Base Stamina Regen is SO Bad
The base rate of stamina regen is so incredibly bad. Fighting a troll you roll, attack, wait for stamina, roll, attack, wait for stamina. This game literally has buffered combat because stamina doesn't regen fast enough. It ruins the pace and also makes mining tremendously tedious.

This terrible rate of stamina regen is not making the game harder. It's just making combat tedious and lame.

are you eating 3 types of food to have more to start with ?

Yes. This isn't a Max Stamina issue it's a when you're out you're OUT issue.

If you can't kill a troll then you aren't strong enough to kill a troll.

Try the Valheim Plus mod from Nexus Mods. It has many configurable features including several stamina stats.

I have killed countless trolls. They're not difficult to kill. You have completely missed the point of the post.

The stamina system is fine. I can attack and roll numerous times before I need rest. You need to make sure you're properly nourished. Eat a cooked piece of meat, a cooked neck tail, and something else, that will give you a decent stamina bar. If you want more regen then make sure you have the rested buff. Make sure you don't fight when cold and wet as both of those things debuff stamina regen.

It's not an issue. You can easily stay away from the enemy when tired. You can walk away and regenerate stamina. Occasionally tap sprint when a troll is about to attack to move out of the way without rolling, do this when you are not holding the block button. It's easy to do and lets you quickly regain stamina. Once your bar is full get back in there and take out the troll. The only time it's a bit tricky is in a troll cave. Sometimes you can't get far enough away but it's also not a problem because you can exit the cave at any time, regen health and stamina then go back in.

Blehh, not poking fun of your method.. but go old school.. Kite the trolls with a bow..
Can take them out with out a stam burn.. make fire arrows early on for the xtra dmg..

When your mining, or using anything Stam based, learn a rythm don't just click away like a mad man. Keep a little in reserve in case a mob rolls up on you and you can attack back or bounce.

That being said, once you kill the first boss.. Again, Kite it with arrows, you'll get a stam boost.. Also, the better the food you have, the better stam pool you have as well..

It's not the game, it's just getting used to playing a little different than other games where you get hand held abilities, etc..

Get better food buffs, Mead is good for Stamina as I recall.

main problem i have is that mining takes up a lot of stamina when it really has no business in doing so.

for combat, stamina is fine, but mining a copper deposit isnt very engadging when you sit there and 50% of the time you're just waiting for stamina to come back.

Same with almost any other tool based activity, like building / demolishing / flattening / paving etc.

Stamina regen when rested and warm and comforted is great.
stamina regen with no buffs is kinda bad.
stamina regen when cold/wet is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm hoping the wolf gear im approaching removes the cold debuff completely cause it is horrible.

I have taken to always make sure I have the rested buff it helps a lot it's only when its cold and raining is stamina then returned to normal regen as if it was day time. I do wish there was a skill for overall stamina and health. The immediate draining on the max hp kind of sucks and wish it only did so when food started flashing and it seems food flashes at like 50% so I wish that would only flash at like 30%. Could take a page from tarkov in how max stamina and stamina drain is effected by endurance which you level by running/moving so maybe the running skill could effect stamina drain and say running speed aswell.

K, but if you're eating the three types of food and you're still running out of stamina while fighting a troll, I think the problem is you spamming attacks and not managing your stamina properly. I for one have no problems with the stamina regen.

There are mods out already to help you tweak certain things:

https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/

Check out ValheimPlus for stamina tweaks.

You ever swing a pick? I have. It's pretty tiring. I have no issue with how they've implemented stamina. It's fine. Eat enough food, and make sure you keep going to a building with a fire to get the rested buff, and don't go out in the rain or at night if you can't handle slower stamina regen due to the debuffs that being wet and/or cold give.

you get a 300% stamina regen bonus when "Rested", stamina regen is fine.
