How do you build a camp fire inside your house?
For those who are having a hard time figuring out how to make a campfire inside your house so you can sleep here are a few options that people from the community have suggested.

1 Flatten out the ground where you want to build your house with a hoe, put your floors down and then remove the wooden tile where you want your campfire to be placed and place your campfire on the dirt.

2 If your house is up on stilts you can use the hoe and a crapton of stones to raise the dirt up underneath your house at the spot where you wish for your campfire to be and then place your campfire just like in suggestion 1.

3 Place corewood beams under your house and set campfire on top of the corewood. Apparently corewood is fireproof lol

4 Build a stone floor (once you unlock it) and place campfire on the stone.

Other helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Just ignore the trolls and the guy whining about historical viking accuracy...

I like to put my house on pillars and im having to use hundreds of rocks to build an ugly mountain under my house just so I can set my fire on stupid ground so I can sleep in a bed! Why is it like this! Please make it so we can have a fireplace inside our base like normal vikings.

Use a couple short Core Logs from Pine Tree's layed on their side and put the campfire on top or use the stonecutter to place a hearth

or you can build that tower of dirt for your fire, place a woodedn floor under it and remove the dirt. somehow works.

People keep bringing up building a campfire on a wood floor but ignore that building a campfire directly next to a wood wall would light that house on fire much faster. So your logic falls apart.

It's a pointless, and very poorly considered, mechanic. I'm noticing this a common theme for how things work in this game.

Your house in game has burned down from a campfire?

if your hellbent on a fire inside without putting it on the ground you can always make your base in an abandoned stone tower it has stone floors so you can light fires inside, you still have to deal with the smoke but you can easily chip away at some walls and expand it into a wooden base and just have the tower as a cooking area

^ better advice then "you just need to unlock something that requires you to run around in a biome thats intended to be explored after the second boss untill you find iron and then you can a\make a stone cutting table but you need to refine the ore in a smelter and forge and blah blah blah blah", useless advice for someone who is clearly new asking about fires

you can just have to build it on dirt and not your actual built floor.

No, it hasn't. Which is the point I'm making about people using that logic for saying we shouldn't be able to build a campfire on a wood floor. Which I explained clearly in the post you quoted. Or were you trying to be a smartass?

No, the way you worded it made it sound like that was what you were suggesting. So I was wondering if it was possible.

It's not possible, no. I wouldn't be opposed to this happening, but it's not possible. At least not from campfire placement anyway.
