How do you build a camp fire inside your house?
For those who are having a hard time figuring out how to make a campfire inside your house so you can sleep here are a few options that people from the community have suggested.

1 Flatten out the ground where you want to build your house with a hoe, put your floors down and then remove the wooden tile where you want your campfire to be placed and place your campfire on the dirt.

2 If your house is up on stilts you can use the hoe and a crapton of stones to raise the dirt up underneath your house at the spot where you wish for your campfire to be and then place your campfire just like in suggestion 1.

3 Place corewood beams under your house and set campfire on top of the corewood. Apparently corewood is fireproof lol

4 Build a stone floor (once you unlock it) and place campfire on the stone.

Other helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Just ignore the trolls and the guy whining about historical viking accuracy...

Normal vikings were smart enough to not build a fire on their wood floor. Those that weren't earned a Darwin Award.

Why is this?

Because what would happen if you light a fire on top of wood? Need to unlock stoneworking.

make a dirt fire pit in the middle of your house. if the ground is level underneath it will still look good. Just make sure there is ventilation for the smoke.

bro please tell me this is a joke.

Because it's not realistic to start fires on wooden floors lol, and for the most part the game does try to be somewhat realistic when it comes to building mechanics. You can raise the dirt floor up to match the height of the wood, and use stone etc to make a chimney for realism.

Indeed. Need to expand the building options with stone floors, walls, fireplaces, etc.

Consider clever design alternatives too.

I am planning a raised stilt house at some point, going to make faux radiant floor heating.

Firepits under floor, then "ducts in the floor to vent the smoke out the sides. Just need to not be so high that the area of influence from the fire is out of range.

You read about people doing dumb things and burning down their house and you wonder, how on earth could somebody not foresee that. Well, here you go.

hmmmm try it in your house ^^

i was also floored (no oun intended) about this. it makes perfect sense in every way, but all other survival games out there let you do it, so its just an expected thing by now. im glad they have swung it in the other direction. building Chimney's is fun! and you dont need the fire inside the house. build it outside and give it a chimney and youre fine

True, according to this:

Looks like we're off to the swamps to unlock Iron, which unlocks stone building.

There is a way, you just need to be creative:

The trick is placing core wood poles and then placing the fire on it. I'm not sure its really intended that way, but it works.

I'm already thinking about writing another little guide for outposts like that one.

Lol, are you gathering rocks and dropping them in a pile? :D If so, that's hilarious, really.
