Of course, that being said, I’d still keep an eye on it, to be sure.
I think if you throw a stack in: they will eat it all in 1 go and it doesn't mean you no longer have to feed them for 5 days.
What I think is you only need to feed 2 "breeders" and then the rest you don't have to worry about feeding.
(This is mostly theory and research I've done - and experienced in game myself.)
What I do know is after a very short period of time: giving up your carrot stock isn't worth the returns of investment because it's basically that you'll get meat just moving place to place (that I've found anyway) and because 1 carrot soup = 3 carrots - and then you need 1 carrot for 3 carrot seeds - trying to justify those 2 extra carrots was tough.
Seems like a waste of carrots to me.
I think ideally you only use 2 carrots to feed just your 2 breeding boars.
When you want to limit their growth, cull them a bit, and/or feed them less. If you let them starve though, you'll start losing them, so you may as well have just called the herd
I kept no star boar, and honestly it wasn't worth the work, however, 1 and 2 star boars can breed more starred boars, I've finally got a few one star boars in my own, so we'll see if it ends up being more worthwhile ;D
Yeah, would be more effective but is not necessary in my opinion. carrots are easily grown in large amounts so there is no reason to min-max them.
I manage a farming lot of 25 carrot seed plants - and then I think around 50-75 carrots - and it seems like a ton of effort for returns already... and always seems I don't have enough food lol
While you do need 2 meat (at my stage) for sausage and radish stew... it still makes more sense (at this stage anyways) for me to not bother with boars since the carrots are harder to come by.
solo player woes - maybe a farming/taming balance issue though too.
I go for deer hunt. 10 - 15 minutes and I have a full stack of meat. Normal boars will never be as effective. Don't no how 2 star boars will fit in the calculation.
From what I read: you only need to feed 2 to keep them breeding. I dunno - I'm with you: I found it pretty much useless to try to maintain and I just hunt because like you said: you can get a stack of 20 meat in like 10-15 mins max and then that in return can mean like 40-50 "food items" (sausage, stew)
Your taming state will stay forever also, as far as I know. So you can leave a 50% tamed wolve alone for days and it will stay at 50%.
