not impressed with the art style. Just put HD textures plz thx
ill do it for you if you want.. I'll even throw in the normal maps and metallic alphas. it'd take about a week
"lazy"
lol
Sure but you can turn off "Motion Blur" in menu!
and "in hope to escape a gang of greys" Why run? just kill does pesky Grays!
Motion blur is a post possessing effect, it happens in the camera calculating in real time and it does impact performance. BUT...
I noticed that this game does not have the option to toggle motion blur.. that puts a red flag up for me - thinking that they require it to hide non-smooth movement of cameras. say for instance when you spin around or the camera shake..
Now the camera shake is a whole other ball of wax.
that one.. guys got the shake values set too high.. need to change 0.1 to 0.001 or somthin lol
But please guys, put real effort into your menu screens to allow access to as many public variables as you can. even if you think it makes the game "look" worse or it's out of range.. please just add the options to adjust all post processing effects. Including motion blur.
Things like FOV sliders and headbob have to be standard nowadays with all the different systems and scales and size of display panels.
remember, people will spend most of their time looking at your menus and UI
Oh btw, people with less ego and more skills have already done that like a month ago, im about to, by third time or so, download a couple gigabytes of hd texture mods and pick my prefered ones.
But hey, the whole community is awaiting your great arrival, for sure...not, xD
And finished! Currently having 454 textures replaced (including bumpmaps so a little bit more than a half of that number in different textures replaced) totallying....1.92 gigabytes XD
You forgot this.

That’s just your opinion. I’ve gaming on PC since the early 90’s, and I find graphics to be extremely important.
Bad grpahics, lighting, artistic choices etc. can utterly ruin a game. Battlefield 3 hd good graphics, you just couldn’t see it under all the horrible crap gimmick filters DICE was obsessed with.
Plus, you contradict yourself. You say that “the game is intended and looks absolutely amazing.” I agree! We obviously agree that graphics are important. Valheims natural world is amazing and is a huge, if not THE reason, people play it.
Add to that a pretty good sound design from such a small team, adds another layer. Some of the effects are grating(Deer.) but the sound of the wind, tree's and other ambient sounds are very well done and pull you in.
It's never going to have official high res models though. So if that's a no go for you then I'd avoid it, unless you want to get a mod or make a mod somewhere down the line to add them in.
Many, many years latter...several versions of the game released and people love the game to death.
Graphics don't make a game fun or not. They can help with immersion but believe me, this game doesn't need the help.
All because we can make games have 4k graphics Pc melt capable, doesn't mean we need to.
I don't play borderlands exactly because of the awful look.
Valheim definitely needs something else to attract. Maybe the poor design choice is sufficient for you but not for others.
Minecraft is awful looking too but at least has or had a great building aspect and wonderful world generation.
Valheim has potential too but its getting hyped because
1.several big influencer play it
2. People are not aware of other games in the genre that do better
The game is very new so I'll see where it will be in a few months or years. But right now they
Disguise bad graphics as design choice
Hide lack of content by locking progress behind bosses, even for simple tools
Use a simple modular building that is unique only because of the viking setting
Don't allow digging deep, digging caves and limit World generation because they don't know how to optimizate.
Implement a simple ai to fill the otherwise empty world
Ui, storage, building and several other things are very basic.
Yes, they created a good mix of things people like in other games and did a good choice by using a viking setting.
But i really don't see where the game will hold much attention after a while.
Maybe because I'm focused on building and a bit on fighting im spoiled. Right now i play valheim only because a friend asked me to join him.
