Thistle - Allow for Growing/Farming
So I've notice that this resource is used a lot in food and potions. However collecting this is super tedious as I don't see it respawning naturally, If possible I would like the ability to grow more plants besides trees, turnips, and carrots.

Maybe this was considered a rare resource, doesn't seem like it. I would request that anyone that reads this just comment just so the post gets popular.

I agree, I'd like for them to add the ability to plant thistle, berries, and pine or oak trees

I keep holding out hope that improved planting will be part of the Hearth and Home update. Because not being able to gather/farm things.

Along with a few other updates I'd like to see like snap to grid planting and a more minecraft take on seeds, Where when you harvest you get the crop, 1 return seed and and RNG chance for additional seeds.

Tho I guess the seed thing is take it or leave it cause once you get a crop rotation going it's not terrible just tedious. Tho I guess it could always have been worse, leaving the carrots too long could have turned them into nothing but seeds. So at least that part is opt in.

Thistle, Berries, Mushrooms, and Seed Plants all respawn. When youre standing on one, mark it on your map. It makes it easy to do mass collection runs.

Not going to happen. And they do respawn naturally. They intentionally left certain plants as things you can't cultivate, so if you want them you have to regularly go out hunting/gathering in old biomes as part of the gameplay cycle.
None of them are necessary in large amounts, but do make life much easier, so you have to work for them.
Mushrooms, berries, thistle, fine wood. Same reason while core wood trees don't drop enough seeds to be sustainable.

Where did you get this information?
I always find it strange when people say that xy will not come because it has xy intention behind it as if you were working on the game oo.

Back to topic, yes I also hope they make this and other things plantable. Or increase the spawn rate, because you need a lot thistles compared to other things in recipes and if you do not rush the game and play a long time to grind for mushrooms, thistles and blueberries (even if you marked spots on the map) gets super annoying.

I mean, farming itself is annoying, but I'd rather do that than visit the same places a thousand times to replenish my supplies.

My guess, is that reagents like Thistle, Blueberries and Raspberries are kept out of the farming loop in an effort to keep all biomes relevant.

Just a hunch.

BINGO

Notice there are no birch seeds? We have to go back every now and then to farm trees in the meadows (and get Raspberries). I think it keeps things fresh.

But its just a hunch.

Why meadows? If you are in the lategame(where all this stuff gets a hassle) just look for a plain-biome, slap your portal there and cut down a forest of birches.
No annoying dwarves to bug you, as the green dwarves drop by super rarely.
I have now 3 boxes full in the shortest time, which I will not get empty in life.

My beef is that some recipes are naturally efficient, like Sausages - 2 Entrails, 4 Thistle, and 1 meat = 4 Sausages. Compare that to Lox Meat Pie which is not - 4 Barley, 2 Cooked Lox Meat, 2 Cloudberries. You get 1, count it, 1 Lox Meat Pie. Considering how big the damn meat is it should only take 1 meat, or give 2 pies. Adjust the component cost or increase the output is my thought on this. Same with Blood pudding and Fish Wraps, at a minimum output 2 due to the effort to get the supplies. Time spend fishing, time spent hunting Leech, and then farming and wandering looking for Thistle...the game is so stingy at times.

Quality calls in for bigger efforts, brother
And about the meat for the pie, once you take the bone off and trim all the excess fat, the lean meat isn't actually that much, hence why you need 2 full legs :P trust me I have a viking Phd in bbq

is there a list somewhere about what does respawn and what doesn't? Someone in this post hinted that birches respawn if I got that correctly? Do trees respawn? personally I don't think they do that's why seeds exist. But on the other hand this would make fine wood a finite ressource (to be fair the world has probably more birches in it than one would need...)

what about mobs? for example skeletons in black forest do not respawn or spawn per se and are fixed to certain locations. are there other mobs like that?

The problem is the padding of the game in this regard. Sure it respawns, but we have to regularly go on extremely lengthy trawls through the Black Forest just for a few thistle to make a few things, to then have to do it again days later.

To a lesser extent, the same with Mushrooms.

There is effort, gameplay and management in maintaining a farm. Once we have the tools to do it (such as an advanced Cultivator) I dont see why not.

!00% agree. IT would have to require you to be far in to the game in order to plant the stuff. That way the grind is still there but latter its not a big pain. Teleporting all over the place to collect plants sucks.

Yes! Devs, please add ability to farm thistle during late game! I understand that thistle is used as motivator to explore, but late game it becomes a huge turn off having to endlessly roam for thistle. Something like blackmetal advanced cultivator requirement to plant it would make a ton of sense.
