Optimization needs to be priority one.
I'm loving the game and I can't wait for more content, but the game is in dire need of optimization. I understand it's EA, but the frame rates drop in the low 20's even on low settings and I'm running a GTX1080.

So far I have to say this is one of the best games i've played in a while. Good job devs!

This game is CPU intense, so your GPU won't make a massive difference like in other games

Rust is cpu intensive and I can run it at 90 constant fps, while on this game I am getting bad fps drops. Also I checked on msi afterburned and even after changed all the settings several times, the game was never using more than 70% of my cpu, even less from my gpu

I hear you, 8th gen intel cPU is not cutting it.

Ryzen 3700X, GTX 1070, 16 GB RAM and SSD. Always between 40-80fps

PC games rely on your whole PC not just GPU, the fault of the consoles pushing that idea the better the GPU the better a game runs. Ok I can't base my experience as I just got a new PC last week and its a beast, but do the normal pc maintenance you should be doing every few months.

Uninstall any crap you no longer use, especially on C drive as windows Needs a minimum of 5% free space to work well
Update drivers to best for your machine, note best isn't always the newest.
Check for motherboard bios updates that fix any hardware issues, just be sure you know exactly how to, or you can brink your PC
Physically open and get rid of all dust from you fans / motherboard especially around you ram sticks, dust = quicker heat gain so less performance

The games been using more of my gpu than my cpu. Wish I could do something about that.

yeah clean up your system I would say, the gam runs ultra smooth on mine

3700X, 2070 Super, 16GB DDR4.

48 has been the lowest for me (only briefly), but that's still a lot lower than I was expecting the game to run at considering my specs. Definitely needs optimization.

Game has some performance issues for sure. If you check your CPU usage during play, it will not use most of your CPU, presumably the game doesn't use multiple threads well.

I've also noticed that if I've left the game open for a long period of the time the performance deteriorates down to 38-45 fps for me. Restarting gets me back to 75+ immediately.

Not sure what I need to clean up? It's running on an SSD with 600+ gb that's free on it, all drivers updated, CPU slightly OCed, GPU slightly OCed. If it drops to the low, mid 40s i'm oke with it. But it tends to dip below 30, 25 even.

There's nothing wrong with my rig here and I understand it's EA. However this game needs optimization to be done first and foremost.

Sorry to break it to ya but this is one of the most optimized survival games out there.

Good news is, it's early access still :)

Edit: Possible fix for ya, in launch settings put in -window-mode exclusive
Game defaults to borderless windowed when "fullscreen", other processes (Launchers, config software, any background minimized, etc.) will definitely cause a bottleneck for your CPU, and exclusive full screen will likely put more resources towards the game.

Wow, oke this just added 25 - 30fps for me on top, lol. Thanks alot.

The game seems to be running fine for the majority (including myself with my r51600/gtx1080), so I'd hope they don't worry too much about further optimisations right now. Early Access should be a period where the game is continually fleshed out and in a playable state, which this is. Mount and Blade has done nothing but optimisation and balance changes for a year and the game is no further forward, so I truly hope the devs don't do the same thing.

Runs fine on my machine. i76700k GTX1080 24gb RAM. I'd say take a look at your own machine.
