4 more bioms -> 4 more armor sets. (I assume), might be even more, like light armor alternatives to troll skin. Assuming there will be silk in the next biome.
Considering how weak the dragons are in this game, not sure it would be good candidate for armor material.
Pretty sure this is incorrect. Humans have been around a lot longer than refined metal. I believe the gentleman may have been speaking out of school.
Actually, leather armor was a thing. It was hardened with beeswax, and worked quite well, so long as the weather wasn't too warm.
Leather was far cheaper and easier to come by than metal. Things like swords and mail shirts were rare.
Welcome to a F A N T A S Y game.
He was an idiot and there is plenty of leather armor world wide, heck I even know how to make leather armor from research and playing around irl.
Yes you can claim that soft leather armour did not exist because it was rather useless as armour and you would have a valid point. But hard leather armour or boiled armour certainly existed and was used as light protection for military purposes.
But if you ignore details and look at the bigger picture, the key word in both is "leather". That's what happens when people focus on the details and try to be too smart.
Might be armor from it as well, later on.

"..and he said never in history has there been leather armor"
"...but leather armor isnt even a thing. Go figure"
----- this is not totally accurate. There were plenty of leather armors: one technique is to make heavily waxed or some coating layers of it that are exceedingly tough, and some examples have metal and wood. It won't stop an arrow from a stout bow, but it will keep a less than razor sharp sword from cutting into you as easily.
From the wiki page:
Cuir bouilli was used for cheap and light armour, although it was much less effective than plate armour, which was extremely expensive and too heavy for much to be worn by infantry (as opposed to knights fighting on foot). However, cuir bouilli could be reinforced against slashing blows by the addition of metal bands or strips, especially in helmets. Modern experiments on simple cuir bouilli have shown that it can reduce the depth of an arrow wound considerably, especially if coated with a crushed mineral facing mixed with glue, as one medieval Arab author recommended.[5]
