Valheim

Valheim

The graphics tho
So I have a friend that won't even hear a game recommendation if the game has "ugly" graphics. Pretty sure he didn't want to hear about the game after he saw how it looks.
Can we have a dialouge about What's wrong with the games aesthetic? I know many don't mind obviously as it seems to be selling and well received, but how important is it that games are shiny and melt a computer? I personally love the art style but I was also an adult when Morrowind came out and thought it looked great. I would welcome the discussion as to, are graphics THAT important if a game has as much content and is as well designed as Valheim? Do you like the art style like I do?

You get used to it and stop noticing how 'bad it looks' but yeah I grew up on these graphics as well so meh

My rig is getting dated and I get more frames on medium in 1080 and so I could care less
how it looks lol
Like I said, I enjoy the lower poly look

Textures are bad. The game is great and it actually looks very good as long as you don't get too close to anything. The lighting and fog effects are excellent, the landscape is quite beautiful from afar. But you cannot deny the 20 year old textures. It's better to play zoomed out anyway, so you tend to notice less as you play is about the best I can say about em.
Statistics show that most game purchases take graphics into consideration (Unless what I read was false information) rather than gameplay.

I personally think the game looks beautiful, because it's not the level of detail, but the ability to present a particular art style that makes a games graphics good to me.

Another "I have some graphonborn friend" thread?

You are very right cdog. Honestly I just don't know why it bothers people
like my buddy. Games don't have to look great to be fun. I wish for most people the
best textures were an afterthought compared to like you said, lighting, fog, landscape
and my favorite, good gameplay and content. I think the progression system makes
the game extremely well paced.

I like it. It reminds me a little of the times of Dungeon Keeper and other classics, but the shaders and weather effects makes it much better.

A good game without graphics is always better than good graphics without a game.

I still play 8 bit games every now and then. Enough said about graphics.

There is an 8 bit survival game on Steam. Looks pretty unforgiving!

Don't judge a book by its cover, tell your friend. 4 million people can't be crazy.
Kenshi is my other love.

I hope they never meet.
