How to plant seed?
I found some seeds, but they can't be planted. Is there some kind of trick?

Make some bronze. Then make cultivator. Simple.

Well son, first you gotta sweet talk her.

To be serious, the cultivator yes, then you can right click with it in your hand like the hoe for options.

Great! That's my kind of homor.

Well, I already got bronze, but the cultivator reciep does not appear. Which crafting station has to be used? Is a certain crafting station level required?

You need to make a smiting bench. Should be on there. I think plain wood is the other ingredient to make it.

I think the forge, its just a tool like the hoe or hammer, but has to be built on the forge b/c metal is involved. Is your forge lvl 2? it may need to be. I thought a bronze ingot did open it.

That is lame. To plant seeds all you need is a stick or maybe a hoe. Very counter-intuitive that you need metal tools to bury a seed. <eye roll>

I think it needs core wood. Have you chopped down any pine trees? Not firs, the extra tall ones.

You need 5 core wood and 5 bronze to make the cultivator in order to cultivate the soil and then plant the seed.

Are you planting seeds or planting something else? Turnips in swamplands, Onions in Mountainlands, Barely & Flax in Plainslands. The soil in each biomes is different so cut out a piece of land in each biome and fence it off and corner off each part with a bonfire.

Mark each farm on your map. Planting seeds are different than planting a garden.

Turnips grow very well in the meadows. Just sayin‘…

Turnips, carrots and onions grow in the meadows, only barley and flax must be grown in the plains.

Why this is so makes lil sense, but all grow in the plains.

The cultivator is a gate to keep you from having better foods immediately. Later you will find more gates on producing good food -- the fishing rod, the spice rack, and so on. Just like getting the next tier of weapon takes some work, so does the next tier of food.

Reality, yes, you can plant a seed with a hoe. But to properly tend a good sized garden capable of feeding a family, you need more tools than just a crude hand made hoe. Raising one pet carrot in a pot is easy. Raising enough to eat all winter is a lot of hard work and additional tools make it much easier.

It is a bit weird gating basic agriculture behind metals, but like jonnin says it's a food upgrade and food quality is your One True Stat in Valheim. TBF if you were really going to farm using wooden tools you'd want metal tools to shape them, so.
