Mountain Biome/Silver is too sparse
I have spent the last several game hours just searching for mountain biomes. The ones I have found are generally small and so far I have found zero silver (yes I have wishbone equipped).

First black forest and swamp were not ideal, but has at least one tomb and crypt each. I was able to find a better biome with a reasonable amount of searching.

The game has turned into 1) Log in 2) Sail around 2ish hours looking for mountain biomes 3) Log out. I have found TONs of Plains biomes but lack the equipment I want to progress to the plains.

Just not as fun anymore.

It's all RNG, I personally didnt have trouble finding mountain. The upside of mountain is you can see them from far away when sailing through the ocean, the bigger the more silver

Really? Even on my first world, I made the mistake of using a small mountain and I found over 430 Silver ore.

As much as I think the Mountain biome is mediocre, how fast you get Silver was the silver lining.

Yeah, its the luck of the draw. There should be enough fo the world around to find a decent mountain, and they're very obvious when you're sailing as you can see them rising above the horizon long before you can tell how far it is to the shore.

On my solo-play world, my starting island is literally a mountain ridge from north to south spanning ~2 in-game days of jogging time surrounded by meadows and forests. On our co-op world with my bro, we had no mountains anywhere near the starting area, found small one on an island near the Elder's altar with 3 silver deposits, and then I decided to explore the rest of the central island, and about 3 km out to the south-east peninsula of the starting island there were a mountain so ridiculously massive, that I couldn't believe the game can actually generate something this high, and looking down from it felt genuinely scary.

I don't even care to estimate how much silver is contained in that monster.

Mountains are easy to find, simply because you can see them from so far away. My starter island didn't have any silver deposits, the biomes were all too small.

Then found a larger one with two deposits and one false-positive (ie. wishbone insisted something was there, dug down as deep as possible in the right place and found nothing).

Then, naturally, after a few more small finds, after I was pretty much done with silver, I found a huge mountain biome, which contained 6 silver nodes before I'd explored even a quarter of it. ♥♥♥♥ happens.
Its pretty RNG based. I've found a few mountains without 1 scrap of silver and then I found a very large biome with 8 very large and very deep veins. Its 100% luck

Welcome to rng, fully half my first island is mountains.

The false positives are really irritating. devs need to prevent that.

Ok, are you actually digging out the entire vain? because thats something a lot of new people do wrong, is they will start digging, think they cleared out the vein, because they dont see any more silver, but if you dig like one more swing with your pick axe you will uncover the rest of the vein.

Buddy of mine did this, thought his vein was tapped after like 30, and i literally hit one more time and showed him the rest and we ended up pulling like 60 more ore out of a single spot.

For those that like to explore, explore. (personally I like to stay at home now and play turnip farming simulator)

For those with only so much tolerance for exploring use this: http://valheim-map.world/

Copper seemed sparse at first. I had a small biome with very few copper nodes. I also I though copper was just on the surface but it's not, the ore goes pretty deep sometimes. I've since found several areas with a large amount of copper in a small section of the biome, with more elsewhere. It's really RNG, and make sure you dig the whole thing out. There's often way more copper than you think, so I'm sure it's the same for silver.

I think part of it is there is no repeating need for silver minus silver arrows if you use them for some reason.

Not including arrows you only need 557 Silver to build and upgrade every thing that uses silver. So round that up to 600 which is 860 arrows.

That is 4 boxes full or 7-8 veins.

and that is if you upgrade and build everything Armour, and all weapons. Chances are you won't build the sword or spear (if you have Frostner) or arrows really. So that is 389 Silver. that is 4-5 maybe 6 veins total. Which is two or three Mountains I believe. (less if you find a big one)

Mountain Biomes are on most islands if you can't find them then you aren't looking very well.

Generally seems like you need to travel at least an island away from your starting continant to get solid spawns.

On my high hrothgar lookin moutain ive harvested over 10 deposits, likely over 1k ingots.

Silver is definately not rare or as much of a pain to get as iron in abundance.

Late game hoarding silvers kinda cool if you wana max out the silver sword. But agreed it does have limited use.

Mountains are RNG. There's a large ring around the zone that seems to be devoid of silver nodes, so if the zone is tiny there won't be much room in the middle for spawns. But a large mountain zone can have over a dozen silver nodes, more than enough to satisfy a team of players.

I actually was referring to finding silver below the maximum dig depth, the entire node. It's down there someplace, but I can't get to it.

If the game isn't fun anymore, don't play it. It really is that simple.

(also you don't need silver to explore Plains)
