You may have hit on something there... Which brings up a glaringly obvious need for some tweaking or new content in SP.
Because a HECK of a lot of Valheim Vikings, play solo. So in every SP game, the slowness of "boats" is a real problem.
But oddly, it touches on a post I just finished writing in another thread. About SP needs repawnable, either human, or furry NPC companion/s.
Not the ones that you tame, get to adventure with, get really fond of, and then perma-death.
But a real "SP AI buddy."
In this case "boats would be (still excruciatingly slow.) but at least would work. (in part,)

Not asking for a cigarette-boat, just faster than, "pushing it"
The other boats are much better. You can make really good time with the wind at your back, but even the paddling speed isn't terrible.
The Raft is not. I use it for fishing.
