Bit of an exploit to level up weapons, address it?

if you attack a friend with pvp mode off, then they dont take damage and you can level your weapons skill infinitely. I think this is an exploit, and would love to see it changed!

If you attack a tree with a weapon you also get exp.

IMO I think it's ok, it emulates training and sparring.

As long as it doesn't say "too hard" you'll get exp towards skills I think.

Yeah, my friend and I train against each other all the time. Given how punishing death is with skill loss, I think a means to train back up is more than fair. It still takes time, stamina, item durability, and in the case of bows, ammo.

Like others have said, it is just tied to you using the object, not necessary actually killing something with it. I personally like this because it ties back to swinging your weapon at training dummies to hone your skills.

Join the Army mate..... when you roll upto your barracks are you expecting them to say hey, lets go do some training.... OR are you expecting them to say, "OK your in the Army now, theres the enemy.... go fight em, heres your stick, belt for your trousers, and you have your Boots on, well.... you're good to go"

Not trolling you specifically, but come on!.... engage that muscle behind your eyeballs.... yes its called a brain.

Swing sword, you learn to swing sword better

Cut down tree, you learn to cut down tree faster and more effectively

Block Attack, you learn to defend yourself properly

the list goes on

Should it matter that you are hitting a boar? a tree? a rock? your mate bob who's not looking?

MAN, thats us as a species, have been killing each other for centuries, and by doing so, we have gotten better at killing, we got better at it because we did it, and eventually we had the grace to teach our kids how to do it also,

How do you get better at doing something? Because if its not by doing, maybe you one of those "I can't play without Admin Command God Mode turned on" morons?

Why is it also, that if someone does find an exploit to them, THEY HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE..... its not like WE DONT ALREADY KNOW. We're just not obsessed with 'getting attention' to have to spit it out into the community in some vain attempt to suggest you are cool and 'you've found this exploit that NO ONE else has discovered'. Reality check mate, we know about it (well most of us do) and we dont run around on a forum highlighting it to everyone because sooner or later an unintended exploit will be picked up by a dev and they'll change it.

The game has a "Give us Feedback" function, if you think its an exploit, go tell the DEVS that, using that.... and stop boasting about it

Also.... the game is EARLY ACCESS..... IE.... NOT FINISHED, there is bound to be a whole bunch of bugs and exploits in the system waiting to be located and ironed out, so you want to get all excited about this generic thing everyone else knows about already, and you think it should be addressed..... Use the ingame feedback option.... its on the main menu screen (unless your running Valheim Plus mod (and there are probably others) which unfortunately hides the feedback link... OH NO maybe I've just broadcast an exploit.... damn I should be more careful, maybe everyone doesn't know)

Edit: Everyone knows the only way to get in to boxing, is to go straight in to a professional match. Punching bags are an exploit.
