Are you sure? This is the pc master race community, plenty of people will call your rtx 2070 puny while they wank their 3090 in public...

Can you give a bit more informations? I might be able to help you, I had "64bit HPET enable" in my bios and since I disabled it game runs smooth, plus had to install some vulkan libs...

Nividia drivers are kind of weak sauce in Linux. Don't get me started on SLI...

I'm also on Linux Mint 20.1, and it works fine on my system. I'm using the 5.4 kernel, though, not the 5.8. Cinnamon version 4.8.6, 32GB memory, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 cpu, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT video.

This webpage has info on how to ensure you have the latest Vulkan drivers with either AMD or NVidia graphics on your system. That's all I know to suggest checking. I'm not great at debugging Linux either.

On GNU/Linux we get 2 options, just FYI, Vulkan and OpenGL, directX is not supported on our operating system, only for the operating system owned by microsoft.

My Desktop layout: Running on Debian Sid Linux 64, GIGABYTE B450M-DS3H AM4 - Micro ATX, AMD Zen 3 3200G 3.6 ~ 4.0GHz (Stock Overclock @4.0GHz - (Radeon Vega Series Graphics @ 2GB, Disabled) Quad-Core, Dedicated Gigabyte RX560 Gaming OC (Stock OC) @ 4GB , 32 GB of TeamGroup - Vulkan™ Ram @ 3000 MHz, x3 750 WD Black HD (2.5) and 600 Thermaltake WATT PSU.


My Laptop: Acer Nitro, Debian Sid Linux 64, AMD Zen 5 2500U @ 2.0 GHz (3.6 GHz max) series APU, Quad-Core, w/Radeon Vega Series Graphics @ 2GB, Dedicated AMD Radeon RX560 (4GB), 16 GB of (TeamGroup @ 2400) DDR 4 RAM, 1 TB WD Black.

Gamemode is also installed via synaptic. Select Velheim in steam library and set launcher variable: LD_PRELOAD=$LD_PRELOAD:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgamemodeauto.so.0 %command%

For server platforms I prefer Debian, but for client gaming ones, I'd probably go with Manjaro over Mint. They should have newer drivers and Linux updates.

But like I said, just as well could be a general Nvidia driver issue. I think they keep some drunk guy in a basement somewhere around for their Linux "support."
