Cheating

It may sound a bit sad and naive, but why is cheating allowed in this game??

I was really enjoying playing the game until I realised there was a cheat command. I felt like a huge part of the enjoyment of the game came from the satisfaction of putting in the time, playing properly, discovering and building things and progressing as the game was meant to be played? It's completely stripped of all of that knowing that people can just cheat and skip their way ahead to getting everything really quickly. It's not as impressive otherwise, and takes away the sense of achievement and satisfaction you get from grinding to get the advanced stuff.. regardless of single player or online.

I agree but honestly who cares? If people spoil their own games, just enjoy your experience.
In general, Console command can be handy sometimes mostly in EA when the game bugs and softlocks you.
The only cheese I did was pulling a Micheal Phelps and increased my swimming ability when I died swimming and a log prevented me from reaching the shore... it was out of rage and I kind of regret it now, but I dont know how to lower skill manually and it really has no effect as you never go out swimming

game is made on unity engine
this engine is very moddable
that's why mods are allowed

Just because you CAN doesnt mean you should or have to. Why are you worried about what someone else is doing? Being it is not a MMO and you are not always in-game with other players.. dont worry about it. Most every single game of this type, or any single player for that matter can be cheated and edited all over the place. Maybe you didnt know that either and now does that mean every game you played and liked is tained by what someone ELSE did?

This format of a game is expected to have freeform tools for people who want to play with the game rather than play the game. Then you got mods which do all sorts of things to games.

Close yourself in a box and play the game YOUR way, screw everyone else.

Its like creative mode in minecraft, for those who want to build massive structures or towns and such without going out and farming for countless hours. It is completely optional.

That's not the issue - I don't want to nor will I use them. Would you say the same thing to someone who complained about cheating in say CS:GO?

It is for people who love the creative and experimental building part of a game, and those who make videos and tutorials for it. It's a shortcut and a tool.
Do not use it if you are in it for the game play and progression part of the game.

My understanding is that the "cheat" commands as you call them, are there for the people that need them. Namely server admins who might be replacing people's lost gear after a server migration to a different provider, as well as the devs when they need to spawn in something to test it rather than trekking across the map to do it when they don't have time due to an extremely busy schedule.

If you don't want to use them, don't press F5 and enable them. It's literally that simple.

i agree with you 100 % after i had a 100 hours in the game someone on discord said they would give themelevs there skills back after dying , but just knowing there is cheats could almost ruint he game for me tbh i don't wanna put all this hard work in while others just press a few cheats how is a brutal game if u can cheat

they need to remove the cheats NOW

i agree with you 100 % after i had a 100 hours in the game someone on discord said they would give themelevs there skills back after dying , but just knowing there is cheats could almost ruint he game for me tbh i don't wanna put all this hard work in while others just press a few cheats how is a brutal game if u can cheat

PRECISELY. Someone completely understands.

It's like seeing a screenshot of someone's cool base, armour.. whatever it may be.. all means nothings if you can just cheat to get it. Remove the ability to cheat... then seeing those types of screenshots and posts will be far more enjoyable and actually rewarding for the player.
