barley can only grow on plains?

hey recently i reach plains to find 5th boss but no luck so i decide to farm instead, my friends said barley can only grow in plains, is that true? because going back from my base to plains just to farm is very annoying

i need confirmation

while i cannot say if it does or dosent grow there yet...(murder bugs kill me the second i get into a naboring biome to a plains....) try setting up a portal and a forwards outpost to get to and from it fast i have 12 outposts on the current game im in

Barley and flax can only grow on the plains, do hope they update that, i ended up carving out a decent pit and fortifying it with stonewall to make a decent farmhouse that protects me from the mobs from the plains ruining your day. Then just set a portal inside to quick travel there.

in my seed anyways i found a great spot that was bordered w/ the meadows so there was rarely any plain-mobs that spawn near it, sometimes the deathsquitos will come around, but its not problematic. So find a spot similar with that, thing is, you wont need much flax in the first place if you are building for solo. Though its always wise to have some stored for future updates. Barley though, is another story, because it requires a lot to make bread and bread related products for the best food you can acquire in the game as of this moment.

Thing is too, you can build this farmland for all sources of food, including carrots and turnips. Since they can grow in the plains as well.

Even these flox or whatever they are named climb on each other. Thats why the wall is higher on the relevant sides

The good is that you have anyway no seeds before you are prepared to fight these.

same i recently build a stone wall just to prevent goblin and lox breaking my stuff, and add a simple roof for moisquito
