Better dungeons, when?
I love finding a dungeon; it fills me with the glee of exploring something dark, dangerous and unknown. But, sadly, the dungeons are shallow and limited. Would REALLY love some big ones to delve into, really take your time exploring, maybe with improved treasure like fancy aestetic shields or bronze weapons or something. Doesn't have to be fancy.

They *appear* to be rather easily moddable. I was looking in the assembly & it seems like a rather simple change to adjust the size & number of rooms for their generation. If the devs don't improve them, people will just mod them.

I could make them a little larger, but my problem is that they don't have a map. You theoretically could make huge dungeons since they are a seperate world space. The problem is though, you'd just end up getting lost in all the corridors & rooms of that random monstrosity.

The main problem with the dungeons is that they are waaay to small in terms of room/hall sizes. Sure one or two people exploring them isn't a problem, but i can't imagine it's comfortable to explore them in large groups since everyone would just keep getting in each others way due to how small and narrow the rooms and halls are.

Ultimately, the problem at current is they're just incredibly unrewarding. Frankly, I'm kind of shocked they didn't at least add potions or food or something to the merchant. "Valuables" become absolutely worthless pretty much immediately after black forest.

Once I get the cores, I never go back to the dungeons again unless for some reason I need skeletal parts. The loot tables for the chests could be modified so that they provide something better such as legendary unique weapons & armor. The dungeons are indeed very underwhelming & one of the most disappointing things about the game. I think the dungeons in this game are the worst dungeons i've ever seen in any game. Too small, no loot, same generic 3 way-layout, no in-game map, and no enemy variety. Until they're improved, I just pretend they don't even exist.

Honestly I think that's part of the fun of dungeon delving? If it's a seperate map, if people could leave torches setup, it would be an easy way to mark where you've been(And the first thing that came to my mind) to prevent getting lost. Also; graph paper :) Of course, some people will get lost anyways but I don't know how many others are enjoying dungeoneering, but I'm sure it's more than a scant handful. Might be worthwhile considering a general improvement to the base game.

So... We just need an easier recipe for an uglier wall torch, and for torches and signs to be placeable in dungeons?

Making them bigger would not help, they are already rather tedious at the current size. They need:

- Actual proper generation to make large rooms (for example) with major fights, or wide twisty corridors or whatever. Something to make them more interesting than the fixed grid they currently are.

- More enemy variety, including final bosses?

- Better loot. As said above once you no longer need cash or cores you ignore them.
there's already those little slopes (in the black forest dungeons) that could possibly lead to a second floor of the dungeon in the future maybe possibly please?

They definitely need some work. Some of those things appear to be changeable though. You can adjust the min & max room size with a simple variable. I'm not sure about the spawns or loot tables though, yet. I think the loot tables are shared with the other chests in the game. They don't appear to be scaled to the characters progression - so if you changed the loot table to give awesome gear it would also affect the overworld chests and ruin game balance.

All of it definitely needs some work, and it's not something a modder nor the dev could do overnight.

Sure is a lot of room for improvement. Imagine going deeper and deeper into a dungeon an at the end find some kind of mini boss :stress:

Are you taking about tombs, crypts, burials, ...?
I don't think they are supposed to be bigger.

I would be surprised if there were "real" dungeons as I don't see how it would fit the theme.

I dont see how you would even get to large groups, is it not just a co-op game and not a fully multiplayer? Were there not a hard cap on 10?

I wouldn't mind seeing them augment the loot table to include food/potions. That way exploring and looting them can save the player time having to craft them. Plus it would be a consumable item, so there's less chance of flooding the player's inventory with items they'll have to dispose of.
Personally I can't wait for there to be 'design a dungeon' mods; I'd love to make some really elabourate, multi-level dungeons with some custom-programmed weapons, armor, food, pots, etc. Really make a fun dungeons and dragons esque experience.

Given it's still in Alpha, I think there's a ton of room for them to expand on this feature in particular. If we keep bringing it up, there's a higher chance the devs will do something about it.

Pass, this game does not need instance'd long dungeons to add to the already tedious grinding.
