Rock formations in a circle?
Are these anything or just randomly generated terrain? They are like large pointy rocks and always in a circle with a clearing in the middle.

I haven't seen this before.
Might be worth taking a pickaxe and digging in the circle for a while?

That sounds likely...it's a pretty big circle. I should take a screenshot.

I dug around in the smaller formations ive found (kind of looks like a small grave with a praying bench/altar) and sometimes i find bone fragments. Not significant but a nice touch of detail

If you dig within them, you can find chests :)

The 5 large (blank) stones placed in a circle are one of the possible spawn locations when you initially start your world.

You don't really find that much in those smaller formations.
You can find chests with valuables in the formations which look like boats.

Yes they are generated automatically, the goals is to represent a world that has been lived in like the multiple deserted ruins and villages.

Wow, really if I dig through those rocks can I find something valuable?
I didn't know ... I've been through a lot these days

The smaller formations made of standing rocks close to your character's size always have something buried inside the perimeter they make, at worst it's kinda hard to find in the larger formations.

But the really big rocks that always form a perfect circle with no trees inside? I have dug and dug and dug in those and never found anything. I still wonder what the point of those are. At first I assumed they were extra fancy burial sites, but the emptiness says otherwise. Maybe they're an unfinished thing.

I found an entire Skeleton Tomb under a Copper Node...was nearly done mining it when all of a sudden, I uncovered the familiar entrance of rocks, as I approached, yep, got the [E] Enter prompt, which I promptly did!

Found a chest inside one of the 'boat' shaped cairns as well...love the pickaxe!
