Valheim

Valheim

Let me be frank, I downloaded a pirated copy of this game first, and now I bought it, and have an issue.
Edit: The answer was chosen, thank you everyone for understanding and trying to help, much appreciated and wholesome!

To the haters though, I would like to say:
What if I'm in a clothing store that tells me "you cannot put this shirt on and look at yourself in the mirror before you buy it". Because that's the situation here. Is it fair? No it's not. Of course I will try on the shirt first to see if it fits.

Now, I paid for the shirt, I did not steal it. I put it on first, but I did pay for it after

So what's the problem here, exactly?

I think when a developer submits a game to Steam he should specify the approximate range of time it takes to finish it, and Steam refund time hours should be calculated by that. Like I said, I've watched a youtube video and the guy was literally collecting stone and wood for 30 minutes, clearly showing me that 2 hours are not enough to realize if this game is for you, how am I supposed to know if it's for me or not then?

Mind you, the pirated version worked perfectly. It was the latest version and everything.
Yet I still BOUGHT THE GAME, it was a test and nothing more.
The real problem is that demos are not STANDARD. I am not the problem, I paid for the product.

I am in no way, shape or form encouraging piracy, especially when it comes to indie developers. Otherwise I wouldn't open this thread.

Delete your local data again, then disable Steam's cloud save (or tell it to load local data over cloud data). Once that's done, then restart the game. Or.. just make a new character in game? I'm pretty sure you can delete characters and whatnot.

Not attacking you, but I don't know how anyone could help you, since I'm assuming most people do not pirate games. You could have just downloaded it here on Steam and played for 2 hours for free to see if you like it.

I've read lots of people here saying that it takes time to even get to the cool parts of the game, I was honestly not sure if 2 hours would be enough, and also I wanted to make sure that is game is enjoyable solo, since most of my friends are not gamers and the ones who are - are not into these types of games. That is all, I played for 5 hours, I understood that it's indeed very enjoyable for me solo, so I bought it.

I've done that, uninstalled the pirated version completely before installing the Steam version, also when I realized that my character/data carried over to the Steam version I deleted the files in AppData folder but that didn't help

Did you try Youtube? That's what I do if I'm not sure I want to get it, or not.

Before you attack me, I rarely pirate games, unless they really seem like I would enjoy them, so sometimes I pirate before I buy, that is all. I could've easily continued playing the pirated version but as you can see, I bought the game, so don't judge me please.

Now the issue I have is, I have uninstalled the pirated version before installing from Steam, but all of my settings and character are saved from the pirated version.
I tried deleting all the Valheim stuff from the AppData folder, but it didn't help, character and settings are still saved from the pirated version I've played for a few hours.

I don't want there any files left from the pirated version and I want to start completely from the beginning, how is it possible? where is the character/data stored except the AppData/LocalLow folder?

Thank you.
The saves are somewhere in Locallow app data.

Yes I have and the guy was collecting stone and wood for like 30 minutes that's why I thought the 2 hours refund might not be enough. Again, I just wanted to make sure it will be enjoyable for me solo, that is all. And now that I've bought it, it carried over, I just need to reset this completely somehow. Not only that I do not pirate games, but indie games especially, I would never do that kind of ♥♥♥♥. I didn't even pirate RDR2 although it's Rockstar which belongs to suits. Just to be clear.

I know I thought it will be fixed but no, I deleted all the stuff from there and my character from the pirated version still there.

You could try properties, local files, then delete everything in there. After doing that, reinstall the game. Or just delete your character manually in the game.

Have you looked whether you have save files on other harddrives or in the "roaming" folder?

And other question:
How about deleting the stuff ingame?
I mean, you can just delete your character and thats it.
Same with worlds.

Edit: Reading the latest reply this doesnt seem like an option.
Good luck on your task.

I will try that. And it's not really about deleting the character, I just don't want any files from the pirated version left on my computer, and if character+settings carried over even though I deleted IronGate folder from AppData, and my character+settings are still there, it means there are still leftover files/registry from the pirated version. I just want to remove it all and start from scatch.

Yes I have looked, I only have 1 HDD and everything in AppData was removed, about your other question
I will copy/paste because I've kinda already answered this:

Was is somehow saved to the Cloud? I don't know anything technical but I know some stuff on windows is thrown up on cloud without you realizing it. Well at least the technically challenged don't realize it. Good thing I know people who can help me. lmao
