To each his own though, some hate it, I happen to love it. :)
I for one can't stand seeing miles around me so I can run away.
It looks good...time to move on.
For me, I can't play games in first person for more than a minute, due to motion sickness. So I don't buy games that are first person only.
But now, there is much more important work for the devs.
An interesting example for games, that "zoomed in" is How to Survive and it's sequel How to Survive Third Person Standalone.
