I cant seem to craft pickaxes?

So I've crafted a smelter, I have a tier 4 workbench, hundreds of rock and wood from chopping and roaming, why can't I find a pickaxe recipe in the workbench?

I was a little pissed about having to kill a boss for a picaxe-recipe too, but i just got it and its quite doable alone.
Almost ♥♥♥♥ my pants as i saw the thing, but i survived.

I was not aware there was a first boss. I killed him, do I have to kill the next boss to learn how to use these iron? I already have my forge and smelter and everything, and now an antler pickaxe

Head to the Black Forest biome to find Copper and Tin deposits. I personally haven't come across any iron yet or recipes that use it. It's mostly Bronze at this stage (2x Copper + 1x Tin = 1x Bronze)

Where do you make the bronze? I have copper and tin and smelted it but no way to combine it.
