Never taunt the sea.

So I was gonna sail way to the other side of the map and explore some new isles.

I jump on my trusty longship during a massive storm and take to the water. As I sail through the storm and the mighty waves I laugh out loud and taunt the waters, as they cannot hurt my big beautiful ship....

Then it happens, I go over a particularly large wave and bam my ship takes damage. I laugh and ask the sea if that's all it has, this will not stop me. 2 more large waves approach and again my ship takes minor damage. I once again laugh and tell the sea it cannot stop me. Then the biggest wave I have ever seen comes forth and capsizes my ship in the middle of the ocean.

I am now stranded in the middle of the sea on a rock that i miraculously found. Waiting for my g/f to build a boat and sail out to rescue me before I am devoured by a sea serpent.

Day 3 on the rock...

I dont mean to laugh, but that is hilarious.

Good for you for not using console commands to get out of your predicament.

Did the wave throw you off your ship or did it break the ship? Was it the wave or a combination of the wave and the direction of the wind that capsized you? Asking because storms are scary as it is O_O

If a wave is big enough its going to cause most ships to flip, the fact they actually put that in the game is impressive to me. I mean modern ships today can take some pretty big waves due to the computer systems and such, but what you have in game? no, a big wave is going to toss that boat around like its a twig.

Yea one of the reasons i posted, i felt invincible vs the waves in my longship, pretty sure i had the shocked pikachu face when it happened. My g/f on the other hand went into immediate mocking laughter.

I was sailing sideways when the wave hit, and it capsized the boat, which then took dmg every few secs till it broke apart. Luckily i swam underneath it so when it broke I got all my materials back.

It did not throw me from the boat till it was completely overturned.

I've learned not to be a smart-ass period with Velheim, so I was out killing some Grey dwarfs, then a troll weilding a log came to play to, I was kiting said troll, and dealing with the greydwarfs to, I was laughing because the troll kept missing me, then it happened, I got stuck on a bush, and well... lets just say I never got out of the range of its next swing, was my 1st death this game so far. I msijudged the trolls attack range with that log, its bigger than it looks trust me.

Yup. Never let a (big) wave hit you from the side. Lost my Karve this way. :)

It''s hard not to get excited when outmaneuvering a storm. Though i'm gonna have to be careful when I get a bigger ship than the Karve. Hit a wave wrong last night and got sent flying high enough to damage my ship when I landed back down in the water.
