Mining and trolls

Every time I start mineing copper troll turns up and kills me before I can kill him am I missing a trick any help would be appreciated

Dont worry too much. Soon you wont even need Copper because you will be in the Swamps digging through Mud for Iron Scraps and having to deal with the Mobs there

I still haven't even tried the second boss yet, I'm having such a good fun building bases everywhere, building up skills and collecting stuff. I have a lot of seeds and haven't even tried farming yet but thinking on doing it soon

I've had good luck bringing a bunch of rock and wood with me and then creating a ring of campfires around the area I'll be working in. Not sure about trolls, but it tends to keep the grey dwarves at bay

use bow and fire arrows so you can hit and run until it get killed. with fire arrow, it should be killed within 20-30 shots.

or if you have fluent game play and a bronze shield, you can parry its attack, which will give you time to make about 3 hits with axe or other single hand weapon, and all this 3 hits will deal double dmg to the troll.

Wall off the deposit. Most copper deposits, it seems, run underground. So, you'll probably spend a good bit of time there. Wall it off, set up a fire, reap the benefits of always having a rested buff and mine away safely.

I have the second tier bow and flint head arrows and can solo them no problem just gotta keep kiting him and you'll be fine!

I'm using Fine bow and regular wood arrows and can kill them with 3-4 hits, maybe because my bow skill is over 80 already

this tactic will kill any mob ( well not drakes). when they go to attack dodge roll forward into them, it evade the attack and leaves them open. Trolls are even more susceptible to this because of the time between attacks. enjoy slaughtering vikings

Trolls are vulnerable to pierce so arrows and spears work best. If you can get the timing down parry with a shield and riposte for loads of damage. Bronze shield is recommended for this. Wooden shields don't block enough damage.

use a bow with fire arrows. fire is good against trolls.

and also try to kite the troll in front of your copper so he smash the ♥♥♥♥ and you dont need to waste your pickaxe, just pick the copper up.

when you are meele do not block trolls. they hit really hard and stunlock you for like a second with their pushback. better dodge them and hit them with an axe or sword.

Use a bow, upgrade it and use fire arrows. You can use the terrain to mess with enemies to slow them down and make them have to go up/down or around things giving you time to get more shots off and keep backing up.

mining makes noise in a large radius and attracts enemy. IT may also spawn them, unclear but seems likely.
you can to a few hits then hide, and it will tell you if something is mad and on the way (not that you need this for trolls who smash and stomp their way over). You can also sometimes hide in the hole you dug and they will go away after a time. If its too populated, find another node elsewhere. You can literally kill 30+ dwarves per trip of ore on bad nodes. Trolls are uncommon and once you kill one its usually troll free for a long long time.

Well was well worth the grind to kill him was by 3 copper deposits got 47 ore
