There's a sea serpent. Wait until you meet him. He tends to show up at night and during storms.

the serpents are a literal joke once you get the harpoon and harpoon aint even late game, this game does a really good job of making everything seems scary but its really not, OP is right sailing is so damn boring, i usually play ps4 while someone else sails.

but ye once you harpoon them they just sit there kind of motionless and let you kill it, they do this but 10x when you harpoon them and drag them to dry land.

The ocean biome is very much unfunished right now and the devs have content planned for it later on, which was announced in their roadmap update.

I cannot even leave my base on the ship in peace. I have an ice mountain pretty close to my base and the dragons keep attacking me while I am on the water..... sucks.

Not for me. Bastage popped up the second, and I mean literally the second our wind died. Tried to hightail it to the closest shoreline, which was Swamp.. but didn't make it. Destroyed the boat, then one shot chomped me in the water.

P.S. Got all the stuff back.

Well the thing about making the Ocean biome more dangerous is that you'd have to be careful to take into account the fact that you can't repair the ship out in the water.

I mean, the biggest threat while sailing is nature, as long as you are not stupid sailing is kinda meant to be boring is a way of getting from point a to b.

Agreed. Fog is number one on my list. Nothing more terrifying than not being able to see where you are going and then all of a sudden you're 10 seconds from slamming into the Plains.

Yeah, this. Sailing at night, in storms, or through fog all make it hard to see what's ahead, so I keep my eyes glued to the minimap watching for any signs of tan coastline.

You know, like the vikings did.
