You are Cold, You are Wet ... please let us combat this better
I get that you want some kind of challenge here, and I get that you want some sort of "realism" however. the fact both these stack is pretty strong punishment with little to counter it.

The game is like 75% water and rain so you are almost ALWAYS gonna be wet, this essential is like a perma debuff. on top of that at night you are always cold unless near a fire. is the goal here to deter us from moving around at night? the mobs already spawn more at night shouldn't that be the main challenge? its a more engaging challenge thats for sure.

Why does the basic armors not add some level of warmth? you could even make it so we get like a "Warm buff" by resting near a camp fire with armor or clothes on that last for like 10-15 minutes if the goal is to kinda keep that challenge level of being cold and wet while making the mechanic engaging and tactical to combat.

But as of right now, you are basically always Cold and Wet and my viking is starting to hate life with no way to combat this except stay near a fire 24/7

firecamp and more r the solution , it takes 5 sec to be dry and warmer

Only applicable in swamps or at night. Or during a storm.. For the storm or swamp night stay indoors.. sleep, tinker etc.
Swamp daylight nothing you can do.
Everywhere else, when rain stops, make a fire.

And you'll be wet and cold at your very first step outside. Definitely not a solution.

That said wet and cold are far to be as horrible as the OP seems to say, you wait a couple more seconds before your stamina come back, woot...

Throw down a workbench, make a roof, a fire, and chillax. It can't rain all the time...

The problem is its almost always raining or you are near water or in water. so even with a fire nearby you basically have to keep running back to it and you dont stay warm unless you next to it.

I'm only asking that when it isnt raining that the warm buff last a set duration of time after leaving the fire if you are wearing armor so you can travel around at night without being at half stamnia.

As for the wet, i feel like having a hooded item or somthing should at the very elast reduce the effective ness of rain making you wet.

it just feels bad ALWAYS being perma wet and cold. why even have them as debuffs to start and just half our stamina then

i just make some quick shelter and start a fire. the game have way too much rain. there should be some clothing to counter this like with frost.

cold effect is only at night, and night only lasts 1/4 of the day.
There are clothing against the cold effect
there is a mead / potion against the cold effect that you have pretty early

Charcharodonto Mar 7, 2021 @ 9:53am
frost resistence mead
cold resistence on later armor and cloaks

They both deal with cold when away from your base.

Just wearing clothes doesn't mean you can't get cold at night, you need the right clothes.

Just because there is not counter to the wet debuff doesn't mean you can't lessen it

The rested buff makes the wet debuff trivial, especially if you avoid the cold as well

that's how I went through the swamps. Easy to build a small cabin with a bed, a fire and a deer rug. That's 5 comfort for a 12 min rested buff.... (= half of a Valheim day).

You can also make a fire in the entry of a crypt, that's a 8 min rested buff.

Sure OP, I don't see why a new mechanic or perhaps a new set of attire cannot be crafted to battle the wet "debuff". This is Early Access, after all, so it is entirely possible that the Devs wish to implement something.

A rule of thumb for when posting suggestions; try to do it on the suggestions and feedback section, or, should you wish to do it in the general discussions, ignore the first 3-5 comments; as they usually completely ignore what you are asking for and provide pointless information or absolute bare bones common sense.

Vikings drink beer. So can you. Frost brews are pretty easy to make, and last 10 minutes.

Rain coats, are a thing, even back in old days. I mean, look up water bags...
So its not out of the realm of possiblity, that we get something that can handle the wet debuff, even if its at the cost of other things.

Frost resist potions eliminate cold debuff. Carry fire materials for when you leave rain or have to swim across a channel. Get your comfort bonus up at your house so you are always with the rested bonus as you play. Sitting at a fire for 30 seconds will also give you 7 minutes of rested bonus in a pinch.

Cloaks should negate the rain effect. That'd give them more of a reason to exist beyond a measly 2 armor
