Light Source?
Hello fellow vikings :)

Any tips on good light sources? I got a big castle/base and it's getting kinda annoying when I always have to refill all of my torches when my base is so big..

Any tips/solutions to this? :)

Yeah, buy the headlamp from the trader, then wherever you go, you have light.
Means no more torches needed.

The bigger light sources like the braziers light up more space. You really need to pick what needs to be lit up and not expect every square inch to have light. Keep it minimal and functional or expect to fill them often.

The wall sconces last much longer than standing torches. But no, there's no way (that I know of) around refueling your light sources. Maybe some day we'll have an option to plant yellow mushrooms, which glow...

Sconces burn much slower, but they might have to be covered from rain. Not sure about that as I had them placed at covered entrances.

V+ mod has a config setting that makes your Torches last forever. Very useful.

Standing metal torch and the brazier are p big light sources.

Obv so is the bonfire.

some light sources also make smoke, so you need to think about venting as well. you don't need every inch of your build to be lit up brightly.

Have a more open construction. Make windows in all sides to let sunlight in.
Place a Bonfire or Heath's in the middle.
Instead of placing torches in corners, have them more to the center and perhaps just a few sconces.
Someone posted screenshots of using mushrooms for light sources.

Heh.. yeah i do that but they dont cast much light. Same with potions on item stands. Looks great tho.

Ceiling braziers use coal, which is super easy to get. Hearths use wood, even easier to get and can place anywhere (just a little large). Wall sconces use resin, so I stopped using them long ago due to it's relative scarcity.

Bonfires light up a large area, but require a core, fine wood, etc.. and they currently have a large hit to FPS so I don't use them.

I guess the best you could go for 'permenant' light sources is item stands with glowing items on them.

Alternatively, could just leave it mostly unlit and have a torch or other hand held light source for the dark bits of the base.

I'm thinking the problem with overdoing the detail lighting will drop your FPS bigtime.

no upkeep and rain doesnt put out.
Problem is just the range. Glowing mushrooms doesn't even light up a full square.
