sneak attack bow?

how do sneak attack with a bow? i'm crouched / sneaking but when I'm pressing attack my viking just stands up??

Not 100% but I think you still get the sneak. I often crit my first shot when i sneak.

A sneak attack is attacking any mob that is unaware of you. A.k.a it does not have the ! over its head or the yellow waves that indicate it knows your out there and is searching for you.

That could be. Makes sense. The sneak is just so the enemy is unaware of you.

I found this to be a bit odd too. Many of us are likely used to the Skyrim sneaking mechanic, which Valheim's sneaking mechanic borrows from. With this in mind, having the character rise from sneak mode can be disorienting. However, I think the Valheim team has nuanced their sneaking mechanic to fit their game. It takes a short acclamation. One thing I like a lot, is that if you are sneaky enough, you can travel out of sneak mode for a few seconds, while still unseen and sneaky. I am impressed with this game, overall. And am happy to see where the team goes with it, and what they change as time goes by.

I spent many hours in skyrim so I just assumed that you would stay in "stealth mode" during the attack but that isn't the case if I have understood you all right.... ?

if you snipe a troll that is unaware of you, you will get the stealth "crit" although it looks like you leave "stealth". The mechanic is if he is aggro'd, you wont get that first shot sneak attack dmg.

Yes. You do not stay in stealth mode when you attack with a bow. So you cannot fire while technically in sneak mode. But you are likely to still be unseen when you fire. You can tell if you were unseen and were awarded the sneak attack by the damage given. You then must re-enter sneak/stealth mode, if you care to sneak off.
