Black Forest too small?

Hello,

I have managed to kill the first boss and stumbled into the black forest. However it seems, that the black forest only consists of one small island. Whenever I go to any direction, the map location changes to "Meadows". Is there anything wrong on my map or where do I have to go to explore more of the black forest?

You'll have to explore. There's isn't one single black forest, it's basically just a biome.

The map is randomly generated and there is more than just one Biome per map, there will be other Black Forests on the map and other Meadows on the map.

No. You're just seeing a small part of the map. There are multiple instance of all the biomes scattered over the whole world map, you just have to explore and find them.

Open Map, zoom out with mouse wheel. That big circle? That's your entire map. Go forth and explore, it's proc gen. Biomes you haven't been pointed to will likely murder you.

Could be as many as 10 black Forrest areas. Zoom out the map is huge.

The biomes are spread out, somewhat based on distance from center or at least that's what I've noticed on the few seeds I've played.
Our last map we had three different islands with swamp before we found the boss.

Yeah you don't have just one spot for each biome, they show up all over the place, so you need to go find other Black Forest regions on other islands.

I just wish I could find a Swamp in my current seed. I've been across almost 3 entire islands and have not found one yet. I managed to find a tiny patch of plains before I've found a single acre of Swamp.

You might also generate a new seed if your initial seed doesn't have a desirable main island.

Tiny black forest on 1st island sounds like a questionable seed for beginners.

Depends on your seed. Huge parts of my starter island are black forest and I also have a vendor nearby which is neat.

They're pretty big biomes usually in my experience. You just got unlucky on that one. Biomes can be tiny i've seen one that was basically just some tiny island. If you jumped you'd be on the other side of that one. Guess that's what happens with the game generation. These mechanics in multiple games i've played do have hiccups from time to time.
