I think the butcher knife recipe unlocks when you place a butchering table (addon for cauldon), but I could be wrong.
Just open inventory, click on the parallel swords in the upper right to cross them, and use any weapon or your fists. If they are greyed out and unchangeable simply run out of range and they will return to gold and be responsive.
butcher knifes have way more damage and will instakill the tame unless its a lox whitch takes 3 hits
...but it may be for others, I guess...
1. Build a box near boars
2. Put knife in box
3. Pull out knife when ready to kill boars
?????????????????????????
Or, literally just open your inventory and click one time and close inventory..................................
And you maybe understand why they did this when you butcher your first Lox
There's always a chest with a cultivator in it next to my farms. My swamp outpost has a chest with a crypt key and a hoe in it. (Never explore a swamp without your hoe!) My mountain outpost has a chest with a wishbone in it. Etc. Etc.
It de-clutters storage and you'll always have the proper tool handy.
Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, in defense of the usefulness of the butcher knife...but it would appear that using it on your livestock generates no aggro from the others. A herd of penned-up lox going on a mad rampage because they aggro'ed something or someone is a sight to behold.
