Working as intended. Whoever runs your game needs to update the server if you are playing on a community server. Or you need to update your client.

Addressing this to the person who updates the server you're playing on would be more productive...
Well, actually, it might just get you tossed from accessing that server unless you were to re-phrase it a bit.

I'm still getting on my server"
03/29/2021 09:36:38: Peer 76561198015670820 has incompatible version, mine:0.148.6 remote 0.148.7
"
So I shut down the server and then I ran this command:" steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 896660 validate + force_install_dir /home/steam/steamcmd +quit "

But I was unable to login due to the aforementioned error code

Then tried running: " steamcmd +app_uninstall 896660 +quit " and retried the first step. So (at the time of this posting) dedicated server files apparently still haven't been updated yet. and I'm still getting the incompatibility error.

Long story short. (&me thinks) There's an update for the game, but not for the dedicated server yet.

Its on your end..... Update your damn servers properly

OP follow these steps and never update ahead of your server again. This works for every game I have tried it on.

1. Set Steam to ONLY update when you launch the game.
2. Now go into the install folder and set a shortcut to your desktop or have Steam do it. It is done on install automatically
3. Now only start the game with the shortcut never EVER with Play on the Steam Client/Your Library.

This method simply bypasses Steam checking for updates. You still need Steam running but means your game does not update until you want it too and you can play the old version forever. I have used this so far on Empyrion, Arma 3, 7 Days to Die.

Doesn't that just tell that server has the new version and your Steam client is still old one? Restart Steam to try make it look for updates.

yeah, I'll take the bait.
who ever runs your server, needs to update to the newest version. There was an update to Valheim today.

Ran the update on my server, dedicated and hosted, successfully before posting above. Statement stands, get your server and clients updated to the same current version.

nah because down in the bottom right hand corner of my client it says in tiny bold case lettering "version 0.148.7"

We had the sync issues so I backed up our world.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled Valheim Dedicated Server and got the new version.
The world stopped loading!

After testing, I found that the world is now saved and loaded from "AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds" instead of "Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim dedicated server\save"

I copied the backed up world to the new location and we're up and running again!

Yeah, thank you, it worked. I'm a player, not a host, so I googled the problem and thought that I had to replace my saves in order the game to work.
