QOL: Show required spacing to properly grow plants.
A tiny radii circle around each type of plant to show proper growing space would help immensely. I'm trying to grow planters with pine trees in my compound and I cannot for the life of me get them to grow properly. Right now, there's approximately a 5m x 5m empty area around the pine sapling, yet it still needs room to grow. Okay. Fine.

But, I'm tired of sitting here messing with the spacing and guessing as to what could possibly be the proper amount of space. I guess it's time to throw the idea out completely because it's seemingly impossible to achieve what I'm trying to do. Adding radii circles to give players the information they need to do this properly would be a great change to help with decorating so I don't get impossible ideas in the future.

Edit: No I'm not going to use mods. No I'm not going to use the console. I'm not interested in workarounds. I want something built into the game. Don't comment with those suggestions. I'll block you immediately.

So by rule of thumb i go by this.
Turnips Carrots and Flax need half a square of space roughly around all sides.
Barley requires what seems to be a full square.
If you use stone walls for edges of your crops it makes it easier to manage space.

Trees i have not experimented with but from what i have been told can need from 5 to 10 squares in space.

FIRSTLY, you need to post this is "suggestions" sub-forum and secondly you need to learn the game mechanics regarding planting trees, because it seems like you are doing it backwards... You are only going to have problems if you try to build "planters" and then try to plant trees in each planter.... each time you place a seed in the ground it does a check to see if anything is nearby that will "block" its growth and it keeps checking until the tree grows SOOO ... you need to figure out where you want to have each tree and plant them, but then remove any nearby crafted building pieces until the tree grows up THEN go back and build around the tree as wanted, or even build into the tree,

Picking up the building pieces costs nothing as you get all your materials back, so it's quite easy solution.... plant trees... check seedlings after a minute or so to see if they are happy or "crowded".... remove any nearby structure pieces until you get "happy" report from seedling then wait for it to grow... replace building pieces after the tree is mature.

Yeah I know. I should have planted the trees before the builds. Hindsight is great. Problem is, I have no idea how much of my build to remove now, and so I'm not going to bother. It's whatever. However, it would still be a very helpful QOL addition to give players the ability to see if their plant has enough room to grow before planting.

I just explained how to find the spacing requirement, then went and did my own little 20-second test.

i placed tree seedling and then placed 1m horizontal beams in a straight line leading away from it (starting AT the base of the plant) removed 2 of the beams and PRESTO. figured out that trees need to be 2m away from any crafted structure or obstacle (rocks, other trees etc.) After the tree is grown you can build right up to it or through it without issue.

NOT that hard to figure out.

Thank you for testing. I think I know what the problem is now; part of my build rests on top of a massive boulder in the black forest. One of those boulders that are embedded in the ground. I think I need to carve a bit of the boulder away to make room for the tree.
