Some day it may help you on a corpse run
or even as fallback backup if you find out that the planet is a plater
Some equipment, such as the horn pickaxe has the other advantage of being reparable at a normal crafting bench so can be good for when you're gathering stone. Can just build a small hut with a table in it near some large rocks or where you're digging a trench. Similar story for flint hatchet.
Also, many a corpse run into plains or swamp was made possible with crude bow and bronze shield+sword.
Old equipment can still be useful.
pick up what ever you dont need.
jump into another world.
drop stuff.
delete that world, once its lagging to hard.
repeat.
