How to Find a 2-Star Wolf?
Is there anything I should know about finding a 2-star wolf? So far I have only been finding 1-star wolves at night, and the mountains I'm checking are relatively small.

UPDATE: I found one, but it despawned, even though I trapped it in a pit and gave it meat!

From what I understand, they are more likely to appear the farther away you are from the center.

So I should find a bigger mountain, then?

I don't believe the size of the mountain would matter much aside from giving you more spawn points to investigate.

They spawn at night, which means they will only eat /tame during the night hours...... Used to be a dynamic where you would have to remain at the location where you are taming it, for the duration of the taming process, which took 4 in-game nights total, otherwise it would vanish...

not sure if that was fixed or not, but the fact remains that they spawn at night in most normal wolf spawn sites.

Kill off any lesser wolves as you see them to allow opportunity for more wolves to spawn.

The fact that they despawn after you started the Taming process as been fixed.

Once you start taming them, they won't despawn and run away once daylight come.
But for the rest its pretty much the same, they'll eat and reproduce only at night.

i have a mountain near the center, and its low enough to not have obsidion, silver, drakes, or golems, but i was able to get a 2 star wolf :)

its not a very large mountain either, the unfortunate reality is, they are very rare :(

(you do need to find them at night though, or at least that is when they are most common)

You don't find 2-star wolves, they find you!

Crap, it despawned! Even though I trapped it in a pit and gave it meat.

Bug Report, it's supposed to be fixed so they don't do that.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Bummer, but understandable. At least they won't despawn once taming starts.
