How long will my tombstone stay active after i die?

I died on the other side of the ocean and it tooks forever to go there. So i cheated only the stuff that i lose. But how long will the grave exist?

Haven't died SUPER far away like that but I believe they stay active until you recover them.

I've heard the grave lasts forever, but you only keep the most recent grave marker on your map. Manually add a marker of your own at your grave on the map to make sure you don't lose track of it in the event that you die again.

Graves do not seem to despawn until you empty them, even if you die again, its still there, just no longer marked on the map.

I've seen a friend's grave stone stay up across several days of server time, long after he forgot about it. They're quite persistent, but the map marker isn't. Be sure to manually place a marker yourself, the game will only track the most recent crossbones on the map.

Longest I've ever gone before getting my body back was about 2 hours I think. They're supposed to last forever I believe, but this is early access...

EDIT: Items are also permanent. Every single thing you build, if destroyed, will drop 100% of the items used to construct it.

I hope it remains that way as it takes forever to craft some of the gear early on. I'd prefer to have to run back to my corpse knowing that I can salvage all of my items and find a new way to approach a situation I died in with actual gear rather than lose everything all together as I admit I'd likely find it too frustrating to continue. In DS you lost your souls, your currency, but none of your items. Here you lose everything and have to make a likely naked run back to your corpse to get your stuff. I hope that it remains there until you pick it up.
