Lacks of Flax
The rarity of flax is really quite ridiculous. I found some at my first Fuling camp and made the mistake of putting all of it in the spinner to make new stuff (little did I know how rare it is).
Since then, I've cleared about 4 Fuling camps and no more flax. Clearing a Fuling camp is no joke! It takes a great amount of time and care, for no rewards. I've got mountains of black iron, but can't make anything new or upgrade black iron axe because no flax. Pretty stupid.

Actually not really a problem right now. Silver gear is more than enough to surive easily in the plains wich are the endgame right now.

It would be pretty stupid if there already was a next biome that would be harder. As long as there isn´t, you can assume that this will propably be balanced when the mistlands come out.

It´s a very early version of the game, i wouldn´t count on anything to be set in stone at this point.

Depends on your world seed. I was quiet lucky with mine.

What I did was just run into the Fuling Camp, grabbed the flux and ran away. Came back with a fully upgraded set.

Turnips are equally difficult, if you ask me. Finding turnip seeds can be a real chore.

Once you find a handful of turnips, barley or flax, the lesson is to plant more, and more, and more....

took me a long time running around in the swamps to find turnips

I wasted by initial flax by planting it in my main meadows farm - you live and learn :).

So you found flax and wasted it, now it's time to make a topic about how you wasted what you had to complain about the rarity...

Seems legit.
No offense man but much of the time it's your responses that are a waste of space, at best. You're like the wanna-be gatekeeper of forum discourse, and you suck at your not-even-your-job.

It does take care, but it doesn't take long to clear Fuling village and that's if you have to which isn't always the case. Quite often you can snipe just a couple of village guards and then sneak in to steal the crops and then leg it.
The rewards are real. You want flax and you want Fuling totems for summoning Yagluth, the chest contents in every village can sometimes be useful too.
I cleared at least 5 camps before I found my flax.
Don't give up at just 4!

Strange, I found lots of flax. Even more than barley. Now turnips on the other hand..... by the time I could really get turnip farming going I was already in the Mountains...
don't be a muppet and use it after you find some
you have to cultivate it
every harvest will double the amount

Once you've found more, make sure to make a Plains farm with a portal there and slowly grow your stock back up. I started with just a handful, and slowly grew it to 200.

I now just have a 100 bundle in a chest in case it's needed later on with new armor, but have stopped farming flax all together.

However, my 600 barley plants and 12 windmill Plains farm is churning out enough bread to keep 6 of us well fed. 100 flour per person gives you 5 bread which will keep you going well into the next harvest.

Add to that a turnip field and a 2 star boar breeding tower rig and a few honey hives and you're golden for sustainable non foraged food good for exploring.

Then for bosses, a lox meat pie to replace the honey and you're good to go.

I did digress a little didn't I 😅

Oh one more thing, don't build your windmills anywhere but Plains. The rate of grind is affected by wind I found this morning, and there's more wind in Plains, like, 6 times faster, it's night and day

Once you've found more, make sure to make a Plains (nowhere else, it doesn't grow otherwise and you lose your flax) farm with a portal there and slowly grow your stock back up. I started with just a handful, and slowly grew it to 200.

Turn up your draw distance, turn off Depth of Field and go cruising the coast by ship. Fuling camps with crops are easy to spot from a long safe distance by the patches of tilled earth. I hit about five this way while I planned out my Plains farm and never had to build it because I maxed my Axe and Padded armor from just those raids.

It all depends on the world seed. Atleast this time you will learn from your mistake.
Dont waste what you dont have.

The RNG for flax is no different than the RNG for surtling cores in burial chambers, it took me a very long time to find five but now i have more than I need.

Sounds like you did learn from your mistake.

This is really solid. I'm playing mostly solo, and basically have a single workbench radius farm. It fits 100 barley plants and 30 flax without squeezing every inch of farmland. You're right about 100 flour per person being plenty. I just keep replanting the 30 flax in case linen can be used in H&H. This way I can make sweet tapestries and ♥♥♥♥ if those become a thing.
