It would be pretty stupid if there already was a next biome that would be harder. As long as there isn´t, you can assume that this will propably be balanced when the mistlands come out.
It´s a very early version of the game, i wouldn´t count on anything to be set in stone at this point.
What I did was just run into the Fuling Camp, grabbed the flux and ran away. Came back with a fully upgraded set.
Once you find a handful of turnips, barley or flax, the lesson is to plant more, and more, and more....
The rewards are real. You want flax and you want Fuling totems for summoning Yagluth, the chest contents in every village can sometimes be useful too.
I cleared at least 5 camps before I found my flax.
Don't give up at just 4!
you have to cultivate it
every harvest will double the amount
Once you've found more, make sure to make a Plains farm with a portal there and slowly grow your stock back up. I started with just a handful, and slowly grew it to 200.
I now just have a 100 bundle in a chest in case it's needed later on with new armor, but have stopped farming flax all together.
However, my 600 barley plants and 12 windmill Plains farm is churning out enough bread to keep 6 of us well fed. 100 flour per person gives you 5 bread which will keep you going well into the next harvest.
Add to that a turnip field and a 2 star boar breeding tower rig and a few honey hives and you're golden for sustainable non foraged food good for exploring.
Then for bosses, a lox meat pie to replace the honey and you're good to go.
I did digress a little didn't I 😅
Oh one more thing, don't build your windmills anywhere but Plains. The rate of grind is affected by wind I found this morning, and there's more wind in Plains, like, 6 times faster, it's night and day
Dont waste what you dont have.
Sounds like you did learn from your mistake.
This is really solid. I'm playing mostly solo, and basically have a single workbench radius farm. It fits 100 barley plants and 30 flax without squeezing every inch of farmland. You're right about 100 flour per person being plenty. I just keep replanting the 30 flax in case linen can be used in H&H. This way I can make sweet tapestries and ♥♥♥♥ if those become a thing.
