barley
hey.
sorry its me again. ive just finished clearing out my first fuling village, got 20ish flax and 2 barley.
i was happy since it was my primary objective to find these early on, I went to my main base in the meadows, and planted them...... now i'm sad...
do you have to grow them in the plains exclusively or something?

Yep. Plains stuff only grows in the plains.

Yup, they only grow in the Plains, make sure you protect them too because enemies will try and destroy them.

Yup, as far as I am aware, flax and barely only survive in the plains biome. In fact, I’m fairly sure all crops grow in the plains. (at least turnips do, haven’t tried carrots)

It is a little silly..Turnips dont require swamp to grow in. Should be allowed to grow in meadows.

Yeah, but it's not a big deal. Just find a suitable spot in the plains, some isolated corner, preferably an island. Place down a workbench and a portal, make a field and you can come there to cultivate your stuff.

yea.... it wouldve looked cool in my main base though...... ill still have the windmill there. so I guess ill have to clean up another village to get more barley then :(

thanks guys for the prompt answers :)

I raised a sandbar into a largeish square and farm off that. They can't get up on it from the water, but I can :)

I use the moat tactic. Cut down deep until you hit the water table. Then build a wall, place your portal, build a small storage barn and fields and there you go. Safe farm base.

in the end I found just a tiny piece plains right next to my portal, theres never more than a couple of fulings and mosquitos. a palisade seems to be enough :)

thanks guys!

what i did was made a small cliff/trench around my shore base. wide enough that lox aoe cannot affect the walls. Only thing that can attack is the deathsquitos, and they do not go after crops.
