Sprint up a slope, whack it with the pick, and rest on the platform before going up more.
I havent dug anything to make my way in the mountains
Yeah, this was my move. Run up the mountain, then slide into a rock. Recover stamina and run to the next little platform (if snow accumulates it should be flat enough to stand on) or rock and stick to that.
Of course, you could use a pick or bring potions. Or build a ladder up the side of the mountain if you're going to use the same ascent more than a few times. That would make too much sense so I stuck with the tried and true vertical scramble for the most part.
Build Crafting Table at the bottom of the slope.
Build Stairway (Not the Ladder) on the Mountain side.
Deconstruct Crafting Table, build crafting onto the Stairway.
Continue building upwards.
I do make paths for hauling silver off the mountain, but not for general exploration.
the cart does not move well with 7.1k pounds on it and can't go up even the slightest incline but down the mountain is very fast
I haven't tried the cart before, the terrain's too unsuitable in my case. So I just picked up the ores and ran. What helped was setting up a pair of portals between the base (where the ores are) and the boat, so I just teleported back up.
