Mountain Climbing
I'm in the silver age and have noticed much of the mountains seem to be to steep to climb. I've done some making my own paths with hoe and pick, but that is slow and tedious and I worry that much terrain modification might impact performance. Anyone have any suggestions for climbing steep terrain?

Sprint up a slope, whack it with the pick, and rest on the platform before going up more.

Sprint at an angle. You can climb upwards of like... 70 degrees, it's insane.

run jump to rocks and areas you don't slide to rest for stamina

this exactly. you can sprint and jump on insane angles, and there are rock large enough for you to rest the whole way.

I havent dug anything to make my way in the mountains

Yeah, this was my move. Run up the mountain, then slide into a rock. Recover stamina and run to the next little platform (if snow accumulates it should be flat enough to stand on) or rock and stick to that.

Of course, you could use a pick or bring potions. Or build a ladder up the side of the mountain if you're going to use the same ascent more than a few times. That would make too much sense so I stuck with the tried and true vertical scramble for the most part.

Bring wood.

Build Crafting Table at the bottom of the slope.
Build Stairway (Not the Ladder) on the Mountain side.
Deconstruct Crafting Table, build crafting onto the Stairway.
Continue building upwards.

Make sure the rested buff is active as it helps with stamina regeneration.

I do make paths for hauling silver off the mountain, but not for general exploration.

Fill your inventory with raw meat, sit down in the snow, and let the nice doggies drag you up into the high mountain passes.

thanks. Sprinting was a definite help

I use the rocks and shrubs on the side of the mountain. They'll hold you for resting.

i just went with the ridiculous method of gathering a bunch of silver at a little portal house and then when ready i loaded up a cart and went down the mountain.

the cart does not move well with 7.1k pounds on it and can't go up even the slightest incline but down the mountain is very fast

Depends on your stamina and skill levels. High jump skill makes you jump further, high sprint makes you faster. My skills for those are in the high 70s, I'm a bloody mountain goat. I just have to use jutting out rocks occasionally to recover stamina.

I haven't tried the cart before, the terrain's too unsuitable in my case. So I just picked up the ores and ran. What helped was setting up a pair of portals between the base (where the ores are) and the boat, so I just teleported back up.
