If I bring a Serpent home, will it despawn?

If I bring a Serpent home, will it despawn?
I can put it in a hole with water.

Did anybody test it?

If it is found during the day it won't despawn. Night serpents will despawn at dawn just like other night-specific spawns.

My friend built his base near the sea so he created a canal by digging out a vein from the sea and dragged a serpent in it and hilariously that serpent doesn't function in that pond it only moves around never attacks you because the water level is too level and npc's are design to be terrain dependent so it just never screams at you and keeps roaming around like a good lil` snake.

Fish i've hooked then dragged into my koi pond despawn after a world load, if thats any help <_<

only mob that despawn are those extra night spawns, when the sun go s up those spawns run out of player rendering range and disappear.

From what I read they only changed night wolves, tagging them to not despawn once they have started taming. I could have misunderstood though.

Serpent spawners are at the bottom of the ocean biome. They will respawn from there.

They better don't, because my base is in the middle of Plains and I already started to bring water plus talked with local goblin camp about a ceasefire so they won't eat my snake pet on the way home.
