but evereybody can do as he or she likes :)
I think they added it so that people could socialise and help each other with boss fights and playing or building together.
Everything else I've done I've used carts and boats. And that's the point, use what you like. I prefer the logistics game - I'm a masochist like that. I also learned how to sail, handle the cart, and am a good navigator because of it.
There was a RPS article (which I linked to over here) where the co-designers talked about their preferences. One guy loved adventure; the other guy loved building. After reading that I'm pretty confident adventure guy would play similarly to me. Building guy would do seed hopping because that's what he wants. One day there might be server options for locking out seed hopping (I could understand why a server host would want to limit resources to the server map only). That's pretty much the only thing I would be concerned about - addressing seed hopping as a priority before addressing the roadmap to complete the game would be a waste of time to me.
With all the network issues going on and things just not registering me putting them somewhere but deleting them from my inventory it needs to stay like it is.
Solo I'd say it's worth world hopping if you feel like world hopping. If you knew you were going to follow the explored way home it will probably turn out to be only as exciting as you expect. Serpents are often a no-show on boats, and when it comes to carts I've done enough escort quests to last a lifetime.
After you reach the iron age the cart isn't terribly practical even without world hopping, really just for extending boat storage. Traversing a black forest with a cart is fine but if you have to cross swamps or mountains on the way it's likely going to be slower than it's worth. Plains enemies will also make very short work of destroying them too. You're better off not taking on the carts mobility drawbacks and just running what you can over a few back and forth trips.
The other consideration is how well the pacing fits around your life. Getting to the later game stuff doesn't seem like nearly as much commitment to people who have all the time in the world.
Just sayin'... why?!
Everyone is free to play how they wish, use mods, use dev commands, whatever, you do you. Just be honest about it and respect server rules.
However it's disingenuous to say that because you can exploit a system its intentional. It's like you can start a new character, hop into someone else's game, be handed all the boss heads then you can go back to your world and hang those heads and declare you beat the game in under 5 minutes. Clearly however, that's not how things are intended to be done and it would be absolutely absurd to argue otherwise. It's the equivalent of arguing that if you weren't meant to steal money in Monopoly when no one was watching, it would be locked up to stop you.
Idk, doesn't really matter too much for coop/solo play because you should have rules set up to prevent unwanted cheese in your groups and solo you are the one responsible for your own choices.
