You can definitely skip the Swamps. I did last playthrough, except for some bark and entrail runs. Upgraded bronze gear and a little skill (and luck) will get you into the mountains and silver gear/ obsidian arrows. How did you mine silver or obsidian without an iron pickaxe?

The only way i can think of is to get the golems to smash it.

That’s only option I see as well, which isn’t the most “efficient” way to play the game as defined by the devs.

While it’s technically possible in the extreme, I’m not sure if some posters are purposefully being obscure in how it’s done to hamper new players who are looking for gaming advice.

Bypassing swamps to mine silver/ obsidian is one example, and the other is saying only use ranged on Moder, when you can take her out even quicker by including melee, with sword/board when she’s on the ground.

No I mean kill the first boss, get a small boat and a Yak coat. Head to the mountains and place some eggs dig a trench around moder and cheese . I guess getting the obsidian is impossible without the metal pick..

You don't "need" to kill bonemass, the wishbone isn't needed to find silver.
You also don't "need" to kill the elder, the key's aren't needed to find iron.

However you do kinda have to kill Modar to access the items to turn grain into flour and flax into thread.

You don't need to kill Yaksluth because he gives you nothing. Just placeholders.

However.. 1st you melee, 2nd you melee, 3rd you melee with blunt, 4th you bowshoot, 5th you melee.. all are easy with the resist potions.

Well I agree to your entire post, but I'ma say that I'd rather bow-lame the bonemass, It was far easier for me to get the materials to get the 180? Frost arrows to lame it with, (+ The fact that there's a handy sort of fallen tree that puts you out of his reach), than to go balls deep against the bonemass with a blunt weapon.

But then again it always felt like Bonemass was my one and only weakness :(

With arrows the first time, it took 2 of us about 30mins to kill him, using frost arrows. We killed him twice more with the frostner in under 15 mins. It's entirely upto you how you do it..

I would love to see a stream that shows this. Smart peeps running into the mountains and swamps without key or wishbone, and just finding all the ore they need.

I keep reading people saying to prepare by going to the Plains for a Lox Cape before heading into the mountains... Have people forgotten that a Lox Cape still requires Silver to craft? You don't need it to upgrade it though, but it still requires Silver to be made, or do I spy people cheating with commands to give themselves the items?

Anyways, skipping the 2nd and 3rd bosses is possible, but you won't be mining Silver without an Iron Pickaxe like a few others have said, and since you skipped Swamps, you most likely won't have Iron gear for better defenses and weapons, leaving you with Troll and Bronze gear to fend yourself with. With that type of gear, all you'll be forced to dodge only, as you won't have a shield strong enough to parry or block attacks. It will also be a slow fight. You will most likely get killed in 1 or 2 hits by Moder if she lands a hit on you.

I did get my selfg a lox-cape before really going to the mountains: Lox-Meat is really nice to have, and i just need to find a bit of silver (i found surface-silver) to craft the cape.
