death from a 6 foot fall is stupid..
twice now, tinkering away on my home and died, from a dumb ass fall, i mean come on the guys a ♥♥♥♥♥, make it like 15 feetor something starts damage, turn the viking into a man from a ♥♥♥♥♥, or like give us a permanent hp amulet that adds some base hp or something both these deaths cost me 10% of my stats which absolutely sucks.. i get it in battle , consequences i'm happy to deal with but dying from a '6 foot' drop is trashy.

Eat your food. problem solved.
You killed yourself by not eating.
Adapt to the game, don't cry for the game to adapt to you.

You're at least 10 feet up :p

In any case, humans are fragile, falling over while standing on the ground is enough to kill a person, not to mention adding 10+ feet to that fall height.

I'd wager that the average person would be hesitant to jump down from even those 6 feet up, and i can guarantee you that a bad fall from that height would be lethal to even the healthiest individual.

Hell, maybe the devs should add a % chance of a 6' drop dealing 200+ damage :p

Thats what happens in real life, so people on a construction site eat in between breakfast and lunch.
Being on construction sites every day I can confirm. Hardhats are required , and most general foremen in fact enforce a strict mushroom and berry break every day.

You can (and should) ALWAYS put signs in valheim "Warning! steep slope!". that was your mistake. if you put these signs, you would not have died

Is anyone else concerned about how close the bees are to each other in that screenshot? Are the bees happy?

You're starving and fall off a roof and die? No shock there. People die from simply tripping on a hard surface all the time, or even falls off step-stools, let alone falling off roofs. People die falling down stairs all the time as well, even when healthy and not starving.
I mean an estimated 12,000 people die falling down a set of stairs in the US every year. An approximate 600 die from simply tripping and falling onto ground of the same height.
So yeah, don't be a naked starving dummy playing on cliffs/roofs and you won't have this issue. Entirely on you.

I have my bees crammed closer to each other than that. I haven't experimented with it much, but their distance from each other seems to be a lot less important or even entirely a non factor compared to their distance from other building pieces, and even the unevenness of surrounding terrain.

a well fed viking is a strong and healthy viking..
a malnourished and starving viking is weak and frail..

eat your wheaties and be a strong and healthy viking.

Hives use a raycasting sphere to check if there is enough clearance in a high enough % of the sphere. So yeah, you can cram them together as long as enough of the raycasting sphere comes back as clear.

Ignore all the "git gud" commenters. You are correct. Jump mechanics need a lot of polish. They're kinda terrible. You also can't die from a fall if you have over 100 HP... ANY fall, no matter how high. Both ends of the jumping mechanic are pretty broken and need some adjustment. All the people implying you did something wrong seem to omit that you never lose more than 100 HP from any fall. Do they do that on purpose? Or is it because they don't know? I don't know. But I do know it makes people with valid opinions less likely to express them on these forums when any suggestion on how to fix this Early Access game is met with criticism or suggestions to get a mod.

The mechanics are what they are. There's a constructive way to suggest changes, and then there's being a little ♥♥♥♥♥ about it. Post constructive ideas about mechanics in the Suggestions forum (or maybe discord, where the posts seem a lot less complain-y), and play the game within the ruleset. Or play how you wish the rules worked and feign outrage that the game worked exactly the way it works for everyone.

Your base looks pretty sweet, so props for that.

Viking RP - You're definitely not making it to Valhalla that way. Prepare to meet Hel in the afterlife. Odin has no use for whiny construction workers who aren't bright enough to maintain their physical conditioning.

If you honestly think that telling people they should be well fed when playing this game, even when building, equals git gud, elitism, or stating you shuld use a mod, then its really up hill. And just starting a discussion calling things stupid after acting stupid, or in other words, being negative and childish never ended in hugs and flowers from anyone.

The picture is not helping your complaint. You want 15 feet to take damage - well you fell 15 feet.
