Deathsquito Repellant?
any plans for bug repellant? Perhaps resin+ooze to make a potion that will give a buff that gives the "ghost" status to the character in regards to deathsquitos.

Well there are shields, bows, armor, and melee weapons. Shield can be your repellent. Bows and melee weapons are your flyswatters.

oh, i get that. my first try at a base was next to the plains & i learned quick that the buzzing sound means arm up; but it would be nice. the needles are becoming almost as much a pain as greydwarf eyes to store (and then dump into the ocean) & it would be nice to be able to help newbies out

What he said. Just let it come to you, parry, and kill it. They only have 10-30 HP.

If you're walking into the plains as a new player, that's your own fault.

(sigh) yes, i understand that. "i learned quick that the buzzing sound means arm up"
it would be nice to be able to help newbies out.
and you haven't answered the question if they have plans to introduce repellent.

Well my reply was posted before your post above mine, so I didn't see your note on the buzzing. As for repellent, the devs have made only a couple quick statements and a roadmap. No major specifics, the update is quietly under development for the most part.

If they do, I sure hope they make an attractant as well. Farming needles is about as fun as farming blood bags and fishing.

so they are thinking of it, but don't know what to do yet - thank you

i wouldnt mind if the repellent enraged lox (and increased lox detection radius). that would give the player the choice between deathsquitos as is, or lox that behave like fulings thus preserving the nature of the game.
another limitation could be that it is a stationary object, im fine with that limitation.
all in all i'm fine with things as they are, but needles are piling up like greydwarf eyes and bug repellent has been with mankind for as long as we've been hunter-gatherers

Another Idea: How about putting something into the fire so that the smoke holds them away?

an excellent variation of the stationary object limitation !
a unique fuel, that you can use on anything currently that burns fuel for light.
if bug repellent was to be introduced i feel it should implemented as per your suggestion XTazmanianDevilX!
again, i dont mind if the bug repellent automatically attracts and aggros some other critter in the game

Guess you missed the point. So I guess I have to spell it out. There aren't enough deathsquitos in the plains to farm a decent amount of stingers. OP feels there are too many and wants a repellent. I feel there's too few and want an attractant. Waiting on respawns or logging out and back in or going to another plains just adds time. Either way you still do the same grind. Options for fewer and more would be nice for both sides.

good summation alloutwar76! yes, this.
i have found that the best way to farm deathsquitos is to farm the fine wood and stone in the plains - the deathsquitos come to you
a minute or two of running out and chopping fine wood/breaking up plains rocks & i'll get 3-9 needles coming to me. so whenever you want fine wood/stone start in the plains and pick up as many needles as deathsquitos spawned locally, then portal over to your official stone mine. me, i'll just grumble that i also have to play baseball whenever i want fine wood
