Arach
Hardest part is stamina management cause all the climbing around the mountain usually I am low stamina when I come across one lol
wooden arrows and club is almost safer option.
My primary skill is Bows, I kite everthing (except Yagluth....he takes FOREVER to kite). Anecdotally, iron arrows seem to do more damage than silver/obsidian to golems. After your swamp crypt crawling you should have a couple hundred Iron arrows that you looted. Save them for when you trigger a golem. If you see him before he triggers, shoot him in place with whatever arrows you have most of (I use silver, obsidian or wood) and he'll just stand there until he dies. Oh, and by the way, I completely skip the Iron armor and go straight to silver....I have plenty of Iron...I have plenty of silver :-)
Arach
and nope , obsidian do 52 pierce damage , ironhead do 42 pierce damage , u re really confused if u think that iron arrows do more damage to golems ( that already are very resistant to pierce ) , do the test not a "Anecdotally"
keep wasting a real usable material in end game , it's up to you, but don't advise others to waste it too
He asked how to handle a golem, that's how I handle them....I'm pretty successful with my methods. I usually have the Drauger bow before I spend any significant time in the Mountains and I load up with 100 Wood arrows and 100 Iron arrows when I go look for more Silver. I always try to see the golem BEFORE he triggers and then shoot him in place with wood Arrows. If he surprises me and I trigger him, then I switch to Iron.
Another thing to watch for: Golems usually spawn near silver nodes. If you see one, kill him in place; stand on his spot and dig; then dig a small matrix, a plus sign. Most of the time you'll find the silver vein.
Works for me, it'll work for you too (as long as your bow skill is good) :-)
Shoot the golem with whatever you've got...just don't let him hit you.
Arach
this is not true on this statement as said by blankitosonic obsidian is the newest as it in the mountains. Golems weakness is the pick bronze, iron, silver, black metal it does not matter which. If you see Yellow numbers when you hit the golem that is a weakness to that creature. I could be positively wrong but im pretty sure it states that in game.
You both make good statements for the replies. End game Iron is used a lot, I would not recommend building iron arrows. As stated by Arach he find them in the crypt, and he uses what he has on hand...
What i believe he is trying to state is that Iron weapons have the highest damage at the moment you start in the mountains to get silver weapons. So dont go up with bronze...
I may be mistaken about Iron being more effective, but, as I said, this is just my observation...no testing was done (that's what anecdotal means), however I have 200 Iron arrows that I've looted in the swamp and I use those for Golems until their gone. By then I have obsidian and silver and a Drauger bow.
I find that by the time I get to the Mountains I've built everything that I need in wood....a fine house, plenty of storage, workshop, ore processing station, (large) portal room, barricade, a dock with both boats, plains farm, garden, etc. I doesn't make any sense to me to go and build everything all over again in stone. So, I don't need iron to build with in most cases. once I get Padded Armor, my need for iron is reduced to almost nil.
