What do I do after Eikthyr?

I just killed the big deer boy for the first time and I crafted a antler pickaxe and now it's telling me to go to the Black Forest. I go to the forest and smack rocks and all they give me is rocks, not copper. I assume the Black Forest is somewhere else?

That's kinda what I do. A friend told me that after Bonemass the game can really speed up to the end before you know it. I just fought Bonemass but I am almost 500 days into the game and not in a hurry to get to the end. I love crafting and building and so I spend a huge amount of time upgrading my homes and their defenses, as well as filling my chests with a ton of crafting materials.

Sure, I get the fun in making a sweet home and upgrading your stuff. But progressing through the game also unlocks new items and buildings to further improve and beautify your home. Spending 500 days chopping wood with your flint axe to make an infinitely large wood house with no decorations or furniture doesn't sound very fulfilling.
The game punishes you for rushing through it, so by all means don't but I think you'd enjoy the game more if you didn't limit yourself.

you should get 10 Surtling Cores from the Tombs in the Black forest (dont forget to grab all the skeleton bones and store them in a box for later), 5 Cores for Smelter, 5 Cores for coal Kiln. make a couple stacks of coal while youre gathering copper, build a black smith soon as you have 6 coal 6 copper bars, go mine some tin ore smelt them and make bronze bars, then start to make bronze axe first then go cut some Birch & Pine trees for fine & Core wood make a fine wood bow next upgrade it as far as you can, then make bronze shield, then bronze mace and Bronze Spear in that order , soon as this is done you can start to hunt and kill Trolls and gather their hide for Troll armor, the best weapon to kill trolls is the Bow(range attack) and Spear(melee range)

I've not yet killed Eikthyr after 225 game days (like to be thorough, not rushed). But I have upgraded my workbenchs and tools/weapons/gear/etc. to level 3. This expands what you can craft and upgrade quite a bit. At this point my skill levels and weapons make every Meadows and Black Forest enemy that I've run into doable unless I let myself get gangbanged.
It's getting close to Eikthyr battle time though. Meanwhile I've marked bunches of ore locations for copper and tin. My goal is to completely uncover all there is to find on my starter island before I take on Eikthyr......and that island seems kinda BIG. lol

A few things you might want to do before you kill antler-head and start mining ore is to expand your bases area and dig a wide and deep moat around it. After you kill 1st boss and start on bronze age you will get visited by trolls and they cannot climb for ♥♥♥♥.

Can you even dig without killing Eikthyr and getting the pickaxe?????? I dont think you can do moats etc prior to the first boss????

true i forgot about that....i suppose you could still clear a double wide path around your home layout then dig after.
