A little help with shrooms?

I can never find the bloody things. I have like one reliable patch marked on the map.

Is there a trick to locating these things?? Are the pigs eating them all in the wild or something?

I remove every tree and stump in a section where I find a patch, and usually am able to find other patches nearby easily after clearing the area. Yellow mushrooms are super plentiful, once you begin mining iron in the swamp crypts.

It's pretty much a run around everywhere thing. I back off my 3rd person view a bit to get a broader sight angle.

Are normal shrooms more prevalent in any particular biome?

I've only found red mushrooms in Meadows and Black Forest. A tip that might be useful is to turn down or off, the grass/foliage settings when hunting them out. Looks ugly, but very effective.

Due to performance issues and my equipment I keep foliage off. You get used to the look and it makes it so much easier to find the shrooms and ground stuff. And does wonders for performance.

no carrot soup is red shrooms.

red I have only seen in Black Forest and Meadows. They don't grow anyplace else.

I see red shrooms everywhere (in meadows and BF, especially with draw distance max and foliage off.

Are you colorblind by chance? If so a mod does wonders. I'm colorblind so they were basically invisible to me before. Now I can find them.

You could use a hoe to remove foliage when you find spawn locations. May help if you return later to harvest.

A little bit. To me they look sorta brownish-gray, just a shade brighter than stones :-/ I have that partial colorblindness... colorblind modes look weird to me, so it's a choice between seeing a few specific things well, or seeing most of the game weirdly... naturally... I just learn to deal with it.

So, it's not the game, it's you. You are not seeing what we are seeing and you want us to give you recommendations.

Dude...you need a color filter. They are available. Trolls are truly stealthy.

The mod just changes the mushrooms and raspberries to purple, doesn't change anything else.

I usually just run at a normal pace and keep scanning side to side. After awhile they just start popping out.

It shouldn't, no. Neither will changing the height of the terrain.
