Rowing the longboat

As the title describes, wouldn't it be nice to actually row the long boat, as they're intended? They got the oar/paddle holes, and the seating, we could make it go faster with each person. Not a bad deal eh?

This would be great, yeah. With the added resource requirements that come with playing in a group, it would be very nice to be able to transport goods more quickly while in a group.

I recenty posted this in suggestions. Yeah that'd be great. I don't think rowing should be faster than sailing but if you lost wind then it should be a good option to keep you moving at fairly high speed, balanced by stamina drain or something else. I'd like to have one set of oars for smaller boat so single person could handle it and multiple sets for long boat so people traveling in group could use them simlutaniously and maybe even synchronize their strokes in order make it work.

I imagine they already have something like this in mind, it's still early yet. Good Idea though , I though the same thing.

It sounds an attractive idea, I admit.

I suspect one problem might be balancing the single-player and multiplayer options: realism dictates that rowing with multiple players would be faster but that would also be an annoyance for solo players.

And that would certainly be a partial solution but, even solo, a longboat becomes very useful in mid-game.
