2 star wolf

Just a quick one, do 2 star wolves still despawn? I just found one, saw it, ♥♥♥♥ myself a bit, ran, but then lost track of where it went after that. I figured I need to step up my game because i only have one star wolves at the moment, but wanted to start breeding some 2 star wolves while I'm up in the mountain doing stuff up there (building mostly) and mining what was left of some silver.

Is there a chance it might respawn in the same spot or is it random?

As far as i know, no mob in my game despawns except the ones spawned in by events.

They'll spawn again in the same place, but I've heard that they only spawn at night. I haven't confirmed this yet because I'm still working on the swamp biome. The tips I've heard are to mark your map with the areas where you have encountered 1 star wolves. Kill off the other wolves if the 2 star one didn't spawn. 2 star wolves will despawn if you leave the area while taming them.

As far as i am aware the spawns are random with a chance to have 1 or 2 star variants.

The mobs once spawned in again, as far as i'm aware, do not despawn until they have been killed. I've come across deer, pigs, necks and other things that i'd hit like once and they were still around that area hours later.

It might be a case of if you don't find a 1/2 star wolf in a pack, wiping them out and leaving the area to let them respawn is a good idea? it worked for me and the pigs.

1 and 2 start wolfs only spawn at night. They will despawn at dawn/day but only if you leave theire render distance. This ALSO is for tamed night spawns! Only breed children from 1 and 2 start wolfs do NOT despawn at day.

ok so if I leave it near a workbench will it despawn? (after taming) or no? I might have to bring a few of my 1 stars up if thats the case, so i am prepared.

So after checking my wild 2* wolf... yeah it despawned. No idea why they programmed them like that, for your tame 2* wolf?, i got some bad news.

Even tamed 2* tamed wolves despawn, you need to breed it, get a 2* pup, that one will NOT despawn. I mean, who designed this.

I haven't even found 1 star wolves in over 700 hours of play.

Ah yeah I've done that too, was the origional method I used to get the 1 star wolves I have now, and now I have heaps of them, the taming process is a good pay off long term I think. Sucks they only usually spawn at night & what not.

Thanks for the info, appreciate that. I could have sworn they changed that out a while back, maybe I heard wrong or something, I dunno.

Not true. They fixed this ages ago.
Our 2-star did not despawn at all, neither when leaving the site (was withing workbench-radius, though), nor after we tamed it and walked it home during the day. It got trapped at night, tamed both during the day and night, and we probably still have it, although we lost track after 3-4 children.

Thanks for the info, annoying that the old info is still so widespread and the new info so scarce. Wild ones still seem to despawn though, will need to try and find one again.

Night time extra spawns will go away at day break, i've chased wolfs etc and when its out of site when morning comes its gone, not the normal spawns just the night spawns

They updated 2 star wolves, most of what you read on the internet is outdated. 2 star wolves won't despawn during the day and they also eat/tame during the day

Edit: They could release another update nerfing the tame, EA's are kinda unpredictable like that. best of luck to you on taming, I doubled up on stone walls better safe than sorry

Thanks for tips @ everybody, I finally got a third one, (one despawned the other one I lost because I logged out accidentally ) but all good, they are breeding now!
