how do i cook meat? and repair tools?

Try putting up a roof and walls over your workbench. An enclosed, sheltered space enables the workbenches menu.

As for cooking meat, just make a campfire, then stick a cooking fire over it. Should be in furniture. After that just interact with it and any meat you have should start roasting over the flames. It takes awhile.

Cooking...with your hammer equipped, look under crafting (not furniture ^) for the cooking station. Don't leave it unattended as your meat will turn to coal if left over the fire too long.

Repairs...with a sheltered workbench as Kitsune says. If you can 'open' the workbench, you'll have the repair button available.

Try looking in the workbench UI to the very left of the recipes. Should be a hammer icon. Thats your repair button.

There is a hammer looking icon on your workbench to the side, any repairs needed it is lit up to indicate repairs needed.
Place the cooking rack over fire and then place meats onto it.
You can find it when equiped the carpenter hammer then its under miscelainous tab
