Food for elder fight?

what food is good to have for the elder fight?

any other advice is appreciated

A cooked meat, queen jam, carrot soup. Go in early in the day and scout the area for other spawners, I had a troll in the area I had to take out before the fight. Go in Rested, Rested = Faster stamina & health regeneration. Have an escape portal near by.

Before you fight the elder it is in your best interest to scout out some swamp edges and look for food upgrades there.

I definitely wait until I have turnip soup and sausages.. at least sausages. No need to rush to kill the Elder until you have found some iron crypts anyway.

The swamp key opens up the crypts. Not all swamps have crypts. Why not get the food upgrades first? Scout out swamps and mark the crypts on your map. Upgrade your food and put a portal on top of an iron crypt in a swamp you have cleared the spawners and such out of so it is safe. Make a lighted path etc.

Then kill the elder, portal over to the crypt and start to mine right away. Typically I will set up a base to refine the ore and craft it close by even before I kill the elder. Run the iron out and start it processing while you teleport back to get more.

The most important thing in and around swamps is Draugr spawners. Find one of those, build a stone floor over it (they like to mess up their own spawners given half a chance) and you have undead sausages for life.

cant I just use eikthyr and eat a bunch of stamina foods to outrun most of his attacks?

Exploring the swamp before you fight the Elder is overkill and totally unnecessary. And will most probably lead you into frustrating situations where you die to creeps from a biome that is higher tier than you. You do not need turnip stew to fight the elder.

Just get queens jam, cooked meat, carrot soup. And for equipment : troll armor and fine bow with fire arrows. And you are good to go. During the fight use the bow only and use the pillars around the altar to your advantage to shield yourself from the ranged attacks of the Elder. The pillars themselves are indestructible so take shelter whenever the Elder telegraphs a ranged attack. Also, if the Elder spawns roots next to where you are, just run away to some other place and re-position; do not try to destroy the roots. This is literally all you need.

IMO do not go to the Swamp before you fight the Elder. The risk you take by going to the Swamp too early so is totally higher than the boost you get from the turnip stew.

Well sure.

In fact if you set the fight up right you don't need to eat or wear any armor.

I was just suggesting that there is no rush. By the time you are able to beat the elder you should be able to enter the swamp. The game is kind of designed that way... just pointing that out.

You can easily get by on cooked meat, cooked neck tail, and a mushroom or berry.
