Problem with Black Metal

Hello.

I'm writing this in hope that someone may have an answer.

With the ned Hearth and Home update, I decided to start from scratch, new character and new world. I have finally managed to get a furnace and got the refined black metal and when I picked it up a small and larg Black Metal shiled became avalible, but there is no Black metal armor or weapons avalible for me to build...is it a bug or am I missing something?

There is no black metal armor you can craft, it like Nameless mentioned: padded armor.

Without flax, black metal is useless.

just a reminder ... the armor is made from iron and flax, not BM. so you will need to revisit the swamp for another 100 or so ingots. The good news is that good home chests no longer need iron. The bad news is they need tar so you are almost there...

I dislike the Dark Metal crates.
The iron crates are 100% ideal for storage, you can place them ideally in a Shelf.

Luckily, I already hoarded Iron from the moment I entered the swamp areas :-P

Right now I am just making a regular playthrough, so my base is rather chotic, but when finished then I'll start another world and build a proper base from the start (taking the needed material from the one I am curretly playing).

what do you call a shelf? I can put a BM chest onto a 'shelf' made of 2 1x1 floor tiles embedded into the wall just fine. They are a little fat for it, but that is purely cosmetic. Do you want a cosmetic solution, or ?? or just don't like the way they look period?

I dunno about cosmetic. But I have like 500 unused black iron and a need for iron support beams almost constantly. It was like logging in to get 2 stacks of iron for free, which I gladly will take to burn some of the unused metal and recover the valuable iron.

2 iron age Crates have the exact size of a 2mx2m Block/floor

You got me all excited thinking that I could make BM posts, but I assume you mean that you will re-build your iron chests with BM to recover the iron. That's nice, but that's not going to use up my chests of BM. :-)

Black metal chests also require tar, which I haven't found in my main works, and my not. Is the only way to get it through the black blobs? I got some in one of my other worlds, but there are only a few of those blobs, so it seems like it could be a long process collecting it.

Is there nothing you can do with the tarpit? I saw some of what looked like balls of tar in the tarpit, but couldn't figure out how to remove them.

You have to drain the tarpits by digging a new pit near it and connecting the two. Once drained you can loot the globs of tar for massive amounts. You should get 40+ tar from it.

I'm just about to sail to a reasonable sized area that I haven't explored yet, hoping to find a tar pit.
